Like our motto — "Adventure is Local" — we believe in supporting our community and look for new ways to explore our corner of the world every day at Diamond Brand Outdoors (two locations) and Frugal Backpacker (one location). We've been a part of the Asheville area since 1964 and we even have some team members who've been with us since the 70s and 80s. Anyone who grew up around here has a story of shopping at our stores when they were younger.

We are passionate about helping our customers enjoy Western North Carolina whether they're on the trail or on the town. As a local, family-owned operation, we're able to focus on what works best for our friends and neighbors. When our team isn't enjoying the outdoors, they're keeping up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies through weekly training, hosting in-store clinics and workshops on a variety of topics, and building lasting relationships with happy customers.
