The Director of Benefits is responsible for the oversight and administration of health and welfare benefits and workers’ compensation for Quiksilver Americas.

Responsibilities:
Benefits- This person provides guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans surveying industry and/or community to determine company's competitive position in employee benefits. This position will develop, recommend, and install approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefit policies, and supervises administration of existing plans. This includes, but is not limited to: benefits documentation and formal/informal written/verbal communications, benefits analytics, benchmarking, and forecasting, IRS/State filings, benefit plan enrollments/terminations, short- term and long-term disability, FMLA, 401k, Employee Stock Purchase Program, unemployment, COBRA, employee wellness, new hire benefits orientation, and annual benefits open enrollment. The Director will partner/collaborate with members of the HR team on issues related to these HR functions or on other organizational initiatives as requested. This person will develop cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to company and employee.
Workers’ Compensation- This individual will be responsible for administering all aspects of the Workers’ compensation claims and Safety processes. This person is responsible for effectively managing all external professional relationships including the insurance carrier, outside counsel and third party administrators. This person develops and monitors internal claims handling policies and safety procedures and ensures that critical information reaches appropriate parties quickly and accurately. The Director will Monitor and evaluate the various offices and locations to ensure compliance with OSHA and related regulations. This person serves as staff specialist in safety by developing and carrying out procedures with the line organization that effectively control accident and health exposures in the Company and minimize OSHA citations.
Requirements:
• 10+ years experience in human resources benefits administration and policies with strong knowledge of 401k plans
• 5+ years of experience in an equivalent position for a large corporation - or from practical experiences in a relevant broker/underwriting/claims capacity
• Comprehensive and current knowledge of wide variety of state laws governing health and welfare plans, 401k plans and workers’ compensation
• Must demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with staff, executives, vendors etc.
• Excellent leadership and staff management skills demonstrated competence in employee development
• Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
• Communicates benefits and program goals with department managers and injured workers for the purpose of loss control
• Develops and implements workers' compensation claims reporting forms, procedures and activities
• Requires highly developed relational, analytical, written and verbal skills
