Good things come to those who wait patience is a virtue…blah, blah, blah. We need someone ASAP in our etnies Sales department and we don’t mean two months from now. We’re seeking an experienced Director of Sales to work within our etnies brand under general supervision, to direct, coordinate, and manage all activities & personnel of the entire Domestic Sales department. You will aid the top sales executive in formulating and administering a Domestic Sales plan on forecasts, budgets, policies and procedures. Think you’ve got what it takes, then read on!
As Director of Sales- etnies you will be responsible but not limited to the following:
• Communication to retailers, and Sales Reps via phone, fax & e-mail.
• Manage and supervise all Sales activities at all Independent, Regional and National accounts.
• Manage department structure and hire/terminate employees as necessary. Conduct Employee Evaluations and determine compensation levels for all personnel in department. Develop & implement procedures for tracking employee performance. Establish semi-annual bonus criteria for all exempt salaried personnel.
• Develop, implement, & enforce all policies & procedures in the department. Communicate said policies and procedures to all Sales Reps and accounts each season and/or upon updates of any such policies. Insure compliance of said policies and procedures.
• Research, evaluate, & recommend distribution of specific brand(s) & categories to maximize sales, solidify brand image, and provide a foundation for future growth.
• Set annual brand & category sales forecasts in dollars and units. Analyze sales reports regularly (monthly & seasonally) and evaluate actual sales to forecasts. Develop, review & evaluate 2-5 year sales plans. Review market analyses to make recommendations on price structures & discount rates. Assist in developing sales campaigns and sales tools to achieve sales goals of company.
• Travel regularly to each region to evaluate brand performance and collect market share information. Provide product feedback to R&D depts. & make recommendations on new opportunities.
• Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations to upper management to re-supply inventory shortages and reduce inventory overages.
• Review all credit hold accounts and work closely with A/R to insure payments are made promptly to Sole Technology for all open and past due invoices.
• Approve retailer accommodation requests (returns & cancellations), up to a predefined limit, and forward to appropriate parties for reconciliation.
• Prepare for monthly Buy Meetings by insuring all pre-booked orders are in the system or on the appropriate reports/workbooks one day prior to the monthly Buy Meetings, whichever comes first.
• Assist in the production planning of all categories each season.
• Coordinate, chair, and provide minutes of regularly scheduled department meetings (Dom Sales). Plan and execute semi-annual Sales Meetings (Dom Sales).
• Attend weekly/monthly meetings with other managers of the Sales Department.
• Attend industry related trade shows. Research, evaluate, and make recommendations on prospective new shows.
• Establish annual expense budgets for the Domestic Sales department and monitor and control the actual expenditures.
• Approve new dealers for authorized distribution of Sole Technology brand(s).
These are the qualifications you’ll need:
• 5+ years experience as Sales Director I required.
• Action sports a plus, not required.
• Requires knowledge of moderate computer skills with experience in utilizing the Internet and working on specific programs including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint. A second language is beneficial but not necessary.
• Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
• Familiar with territory and accounts in the assigned marketplace preferred
• Ability to prepare, plan, & deliver clear and persuasive sales presentations
• Aptitude to develop seasonal assortments, forecasts and scenario plans
• Use financial data to make decisions and maximize account profitability
• Knowledgeable of competitive market, customers and retail trends
• Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and the Internet required
• Suitable vehicle and valid drivers license required.
• Physical Demands and Work Environment: In Example: This is primarily a sedentary office classification and employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees have occasional exposure to irate customers, staff and public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file information and lifts and carries reports and records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.
