Position Purpose:
The Senior Marketing Manager will propose, develop and execute projects from concept inception to completion while maintaining constant communication with the Marketing team, other department managers, and vendors in order to meet tight deadlines. The Senior Marketing Manager will report to the Marketing Director. Oversees all aspects of marketing initiatives, internal culture initiatives as well as manages special projects that require marketing involvement.
As part of a small, dynamic, multi-hat wearing team, qualified individuals will be: able to work well in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment self-motivated flexible extremely organized very detail-oriented tenacious yet tactful confident and diplomatic in dealing with competing departmental objectives and varied personalities a strong problem solver able to work well under pressure in order to meet project deadlines and will have a positive attitude.
Supervises:
This position supervises the marketing events and production teams.
Principal Accountabilities:
•Define long and short term objectives, strategies & initiatives for Zumiez
•Propose, develop, and manage all marketing budgets, actual costs to budget, and reconciliation
•Develop, drive & execute tactics for yearly initiatives for (but not limited to):
oStrategic endemic and non-endemic partnerships and promotions
oZumiez Couch Tour and Zumiez Best Foot Forward Am Skate Series
oAll in store events, promotions, and messaging
oAll sponsored events and partnerships
oZumiez Rewards Program
oNational store employee events
oHome Office events
oSocial causes (consumer, employee & Home Office)
oZumiez brand education & maintenance
oZumiez marketing education & maintenance
oStore employee culture development
oHome Office culture development
oHome Office environment
oInternal Marketing relations
oZumiez history & culture archive
oZumiez culture icons
•Project manager & liaison between other internal departments
•Help in driving strategy and messaging for all creative projects.
•Develop/maintain/own a production schedule & team task list for yearly initiative, interdepartmental & culture projects.
•Manage production process and internal production team to ensure smooth flow of projects in progress as detailed above, quality of project and adherence to deadlines.
•Lead when necessary ie planning, creative direction, production review.
•Contribute ideas and concepts to marketing team projects.
•Anticipate milestones in schedule, immediately raising flags to team members when a deadline is in jeopardy.
•Ensure Marketing & brand standards are met in all projects.
•Ensure documentation for all culture & marketing events.
•Process incoming culture & brand requests addressing needs of all other departments.
•Perform ongoing process review to streamline procedures and institute best practices.
•Perform ongoing strategy review to ensure we can meet the needs of Zumiez as it grows.
•Thoroughly document all policies and procedures for management and training purposes.
Qualifications:
•Must have expert knowledge of action sports, consumer, and market trends/opportunities and have the ability to translate that knowledge into high impact creative solutions
•Must have strong follow through and proactively work to full execution of each project.
•Must be highly creative & conceptual.
•Understanding of and ability to contribute to the creative process
•Ability to manage multiple projects, within the set timeline and meeting the standards set by Marketing Team
•Ability to understand and respond to all issues related to assigned projects
•Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
•Ability to mentor, develop and train Managers & Coordinators
•Strong follow-through and detail-orientation skills
•Ability to work independently (self starter) and as part of a team
•Proven record of strong attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
•Good decision making and problem solving skills.
•Strong computer and analytical skills detailed experience with spreadsheets.
•Ability to interact effectively with different personality styles and with employees at all levels of the organization must possess confidence in communication style and diplomacy.
•Proven ability to manage a budget with focus on efficiency, effectiveness and cost control.
•Heightened sense of urgency to drive projects through all phases, adhering to tight deadlines and changing situations.
•High standards for time management.
•Project management experience required.
•Understanding of consistency in corporate branding recommended.
•Technical Requirements:
oExpert or advance knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
oRecommended:
Mac OS operating system
Working knowledge or experience with Adobe Acrobat
Working knowledge or experience with Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign)
