Olukai has an immediate opening for a Senior Accountant to join its staff in Aliso Viejo, Ca.
This position reports to the company Controller.
SUMMARY: Preparation of a timely and accurate accounting month-end package while ensuring that all daily accounting transactions are being completed in a timely and accurate manner. Assists the Controller in developing and implementing accounting and finance policies and procedures. Assist the credit department in analyzing financial statements and monitoring credit conditions.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES:
I. General Accounting:
• Full ownership of the month-end close process
• Prepare monthly financial statements
• Recommend policies, procedures and controls and assist in implementing and testing
• Assist in managing and coordinating audits
• Prepare Sales and Use Returns, B&O Returns, and General Excise Returns
• Special projects as necessary
II. Accounts Payable:
• Review, code and process accounts payable
• Ensures timely disbursement of funds
III. Payroll:
• Compile timesheets, calculate overtime
• Record Payroll to general ledger
• Reconcile PTO accrual quarterly
• Review Quarterly payroll tax returns
• Review W2s annually
IV. Credit:
• Assist with financial statement analysis
• Assist with international LCs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university.
• Three to five years of experience. Footwear, apparel or manufacturing experience a plus.
• Two years of public accounting experience.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS ETC:
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
• Understanding of GAAP required.
• Intermediate Excel abilities required.
• Strong analytical skills and accounting knowledge.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment while meeting deadlines.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
