The Director of Marketing – Giro & Easton Cycling, will lead the development of the Giro and Easton Cycling brands with responsibility for brand strategy and marketing activation across all product categories, sales channels, and geographies. This key position will work with other business and product leaders to drive revenue and profitable growth while building brand equity and increasing market share.

OPPORTUNITIES AND AREAS OF FOCUS
-- Develop execute marketing campaigns that are on par with the Giro and Easton Cycling products and brand, and which elevate the brands to new levels.
-- Build brand awareness and equity in new product categories, sales channels, and geographies.
-- Build brand loyalty and convert key influencers to Giro and Easton Cycling products.
-- Improve EBITDA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Marketing
-- Develop strategic marketing objectives and a global marketing plan. Execute the plan to deliver brand and sales objectives across all channels and markets.
-- Support key product and technology launches with integrated marketing programs.
-- Use storytelling, across all consumer/retailer touch-points, to express brand values and product advantages.
-- Capture market share.
-- Define brand position and differentiation versus competition.
-- Communicate product innovation effectively to the consumer through Digital Media, print, POP, and other media.
-- Collaborate with Sports Marketing department to develop sports marketing and event strategies. Responsible for activating athlete and team relationships through the global marketing and communications plan.

Brand Strategy
-- Develop brand positioning and strategies designed to enhance brand value and equity.
-- Lead the ongoing development and refinement of brand positions based upon consumer and market insights, research, and sales data.
-- Champion the brand identity and establish global guidelines and standards. Partner with the senior management team to support and reinforce brand strategies.
-- Work with business leaders to enhance the company’s online presence and e-commerce position.

Financial & Metrics
-- Direct the global marketing planning and budgeting process assuring alignment against overall company strategies and objectives.
-- Adjust spending levels and marketing tactics as necessary to maintain a balanced budget.
-- Create metrics for measuring success of all marketing programs instilling a results-oriented marketing team and culture.

Public Relations
-- Develop global PR & communication plans resulting in brand communication strategies to influence consumers and retail customers.
-- Manage all external public relations activities, product placement and special events with a focus on increasing brand equity and customer awareness.
-- Develop messaging strategies for media inquiries that build the leadership positions of the brands.

Research
-- Generate customer insights through significant understanding of global customers, customer segments and channels and apply that understanding to marketing plans and products.
-- Provide consumer insights to company leadership that support and inform product, brand, and business strategies.

Leadership
-- Attract, motivate, and retain great people.
-- Develop a highly productive, results oriented marketing infrastructure.

The successful candidate will possess the following traits, attributes and experiences:
Demonstrated Results & Operational Excellence
-- Proven track record of success building a global consumer products business with multi levels of distribution.
-- Demonstrated results in cost effectively building brands and driving revenue.
-- Proven ability to establish a successful marketing function.
-- A successful track record in achieving operating P&L objectives.
-- Minimum 8-10 years progressive marketing leadership. The ideal candidate will bring experience in established businesses (with revenues in excess of $100M) and have demonstrated success in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment.
-- Experience marketing both hard-goods and softgoods products.
-- A strong selling orientation, with experience working closely and effectively with sales teams.

Required Education and Experience: B.S. in Marketing, MBA preferred
