As our Associate Band Manager, you'll lead the positioning of our Action Sport Marketing effort in the Geographic Business Unit (GBU) West (specifically Southern California) in order to build Nike’s Action Sport business and promote our products, athletes and the NKE6.0 brand identity to the US Action Sport community. You'll be the Nike Action Sport Marketing voice in the GBU West and promote Nike cross over Action Sport point-of-view with credibility and personality that represents who we are, as well as keeping the integrity and the focus on the core skateboarding consumer. You'll connect and build relationships with the relevant people from the Action Sport industry in order to be able to eventually partner on local marketing efforts. You'll lead our overall event marketing strategy in coordination with our World Headquarters' Action Sport team. You'll manage the short- and long-term grass roots programs that will work on exposing the next generation of Action Sport kids to our brand and products in the Western region. You'll manage our grass roots programs supporting our NKE6.0 collection at Retail and local events in the Southern California region through next spring. You'll also be responsible for planning all related events, tours, demos, contests and locations where the NKE6.0 brand needs to connect with Action Sport kids. You'll ensure the Promotion team is productive and motivated while presenting a positive image of the NKE6.0 concept and the Nike brand. You'll establish contact with major action sports team managers, magazines, photographers, film people, regional sales reps, shop owners, skate park owners and skate camp directors to constantly scout new talent. In addition, you'll work closely with our Sport Marketing contact to deliver information regarding new potential athletes and be able to translate who the consumer is and educate a larger Nike crowd about Action Sports.

Requirements for the position include:

- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years' experience in the Surf/Action sport industry
- 2 years' additional experience in lieu of degree
- Intimately familiar with the industry key brands/events/people and have a demonstrated passion for the sport
- Marketing or project management experience within the action sport industry
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with different age groups (i.e. kids and parents)
- Ability to travel up to 40% of the time and flexibility with weekly working hours, including regular weekend work
- Spotless driving record
- Personal experience with Action Sports (surf, snow, bmx, skate, wake) is preferred
- Professional athlete experience in one of the above sports is a plus, particularly surf
- Familiarity using Macintosh is preferred
- Event/team management experience in a major surf brand is preferred
