In an effort to support our corporate buying division, we are seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to become the newest member of our Merchandising Team. Our dynamic team strives to enhance the customers shopping experience, and is driven not to be the biggest, but the BEST.
The Merchandise Planner is responsible for the development, execution, and analysis of merchandise financial plans for divisions, departments and classes. They will manage and analyze key performance metrics including sales, gross margin, inventory turn, stock to sales ratios and in-stock levels. The Merchandise Planner works in conjunction with members of the cross-functional team consisting of buyers, inventory analyst, allocation analysts and store operations to ensure that all strategic and tactical goals are achieved.
Responsibilities:
• Develops & monitors pre-season, in-season, semi-annual, monthly & weekly business financial plans & forecasts that adhere to strategic & financial objectives
• Supports the forecast & OTB meetings with data & analysis
• Collaborates with buyers to create SKU/Store level assortment plans that are reconciled against the bottom-up plans and maximize inventory distribution by store
• Monitors & reviews the open-to-receive dollars weekly/monthly & provides recommendations to maximize profitability & stock/sales ratios, including proposing markdowns to meet flow & aged inventory targets
• Maximizes inventory and operational efficiencies, in conjunction with allocation analysts and buyers, and maintains expected in-stock levels.
• Manage overall store inventory levels based on store capacity, seasonality and selling curves, as well as planning assortments at the store level
• Analyze historical data, current trends to identify category, style and store opportunities.
• Identify risks to sales and profitability at all levels of the business.
• Develop knowledge of store and merchandise attributes and incorporate into the buy-plan process and assortment planning.
• Ensure the financial success of one or more departments by meeting or exceeding sales, gross margin, and inventory turn goals
• Ensures that allocation & replenishment system settings are tuned to optimize inventory productivity
• Maintains productive & supportive working relationships with stores & vendors
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of retail experience
• Minimum of 2 years experience in merchandise planning
• Experience in a fast paced customer service oriented retail environment
• Solid understanding of merchandising and allocation/replenishment principles, practices, and procedures.
• Expert command of retail math concepts and applications
• Excellent interpersonal and team-leading skills. Includes ability to concisely communicate, both written and orally and within all levels of the organization
• Excellent computer skills including MS Word and Excel
• Experience in merchandise planning software
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and remain detail oriented.
• An energetic team player
• Proven strategic, tactical and analytical skills
• Strong decision making and problem solving skills
• Demonstrates initiative on driving the business
