If you are still reading, we’d like to talk to you about being a Sr. Product Developer for Fox Racing’s Performance Product Division.

The Sr. Product Developer is responsible for developing Motocross and Mountain Bike hard-goods from ideation to production across multiple product lines including helmets, guards, protectors, goggles, boots, footwear. The Sr. Product Developer will leverage their knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to guide and manage the development process to ensure that product quality, performance, innovation, user comfort, timeliness, and margin objectives are met. The Sr. Product Developer will act as technical advisor to designers and merchandisers, as well as liaison between Fox and their factories.

This position requires coordination between Development, Planning, Merchandising and Design departments in a design driven atmosphere. Applicant must be technically competent and have detailed understanding of manufacturing processes for a diverse range of product types. Applicant must be able to develop and manage vendor partnerships effectively, be self-sufficient and work with little or no supervision. Applicant will continuously evaluate alternate materials, technologies and companies to Innovate and Elevate, ensuring continued market leadership of the Fox brand.

Essential Functions of this Role:
Performance Product Functions
• Relentlessly pursue Innovation to Elevate Fox’s Performance Product
• Ensure Fox’s performance product is exceeding requisite global compliance standards
• Work with Design, Merchandising, and Planning to ensure a smooth process flow in product development and getting product to market
• Act as technical liaison between internal departments and external vendors
• Evaluate materials, technologies, and companies in pursuit of Performance Product innovation


Product Development
• Create and maintain formal product development schedules with key milestones
• Ensure product design goals are technically feasible, cost effective and timely
• Prepare technical documentation packages for external factories
• Continuously advise management on the status of active projects and offer suggestions for timeline improvements when necessary
• Maintain capacity planning along with Planning, Sales, and Merchandising
• Assist with the development of Fox’s product testing program


Vendor/Sourcing Functions
• Continuously evaluate supply chain and offer ideas and suggestions for improvement with Fox’s current vendor base and sourcing strategies
• Assess capabilities of new vendors and factories to meet future development needs
• Develop, maintain and foster relationships with current vendors to continuously improve pricing, delivery, innovation, and quality
• Follow through with internal and vendor costing practices, reporting CBD’S and negotiations to ensure costing and margin objectives are met


Minimum Education, Experience and Skills Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in a technically related field with 5+ years of experience, working in product development roles. Helmet experience a plus.
• Understanding of 2D and 3D CAD design and commercializing designs according to project milestones
• Feedback on continuous improvement of products with an understanding of manufacturing feasibility coupled with anatomy and performance improvement
• Must be able to understand and prepare technical packages for overseas manufacturing and have experience in working with overseas vendors (requires approx. 3 to 4 overseas trips a year).
• Must have knowledge of technical materials, molds, mold making, polymers, injection molding, bonding, composites, tool and die, and fabrication methods. Must also have knowledge of testing protocols for all of the aforementioned materials and methods of manufacture, as well as laboratory and real world testing knowledge for fit, performance, and durability.
• Must be a team leader, flexible, have strong organizational skills, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both native and non-native English speakers.
• Proficiency using PC and/or MAC applications: MS Office, MS Excel, MS Project, Web PDM or equivalents.
• Motocross or BMX/MTB bike enthusiasts welcome.
• Management and responsibility for accuracy relevant development data into Fox PLM system
Physical Requirements:
• May be required to work more than 8 hours during a workday
• Sitting for long periods of time
• Significant manual dexterity for keying in data for long periods of time


Scheduling Requirements:
• Must be available during standard business hours
• Must be available to work occasional off-hours
• Must be available for Domestic and International Travel to trade shows, Morgan Hill office, factories, vendor visits, etc. as needed.
o 3-4 trips to China per year and one or two trade shows per year.
o Domestic travel as needed
