adidas is seeking a visionary footwear designer with an eye for detail to design adidas new action sports footwear line.

Purpose:
To create original design solutions for the Action Sport consumer (men’s, women’s and kids). The line will include core skate product and line extensions as determined by the business. (Ex: Technical BMX shoe, lifestyle product, snowboard boots). The footwear designer must be able to design product for core skate shops, and mall based retailers.

Key Accountabilities:
• Designs products for footwear range based on input from product management.
• Collects relevant information needed to design a consumer and market right sports collection. This to include all possible sources to gain this information: Trade publications, trade fairs, sports events General interest press, trend services, fashion and magazines Store checks, market visits, team travel
• Collaborate with marketing to remain informed of current trends and market needs.
• Produces trend and travel reports for other members of the design team
• Designs collections by hand sketching and using of other design computers/software.
• Creates working drawings and colored sketches.
• Creates inspiration/presentations. Show creative output.
• Hands off designs to development and communicates all relevant information needed for development process.
• Create differentiated product for key retailers

Requirements: (We are only able to respond to applicants with a minimum of 3 years footwear design experience for a recognized action sports brand)
• Four year college or university degree in industrial, or footwear design
• Three years action sports footwear design experience (we strongly prefer a combination of lifestyle product design and performance product design)
• Computer skills (Illustrator, Apple Mac, PhotoShop).
• Knowledge of Action Sports products and consumer types.
• Knowledge of footwear construction and materials.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to create designs that meet sports category needs and commercial opportunities.
• Ability to design for new initiatives and products with a fresh, innovative perspective.
• Knowledge of consumer trends and styles.
• Ability to operate in a fast past, ever changing work environment.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for degree
