JOB OVERVIEW
The Demand Planning Manager will report directly to the VP/General Manager of Buff, Inc. - the US subsidiary of Original S.A Spain. The ideal candidate will direct and coordinate activities of personnel as it relates to cost-effective procurement of on-time inventory control, and planning of production materials to support the parent company’s manufacturing operation and logistics.
The Demand Planning Manager will leverage planning tools to create and maintain forecasts by analyzing information gathered through collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Finance. This person plays a critical role in the Sales & Operations process and will serve as a key integration point into the Sales and Marketing organization.
Our customer base includes retailers in the outdoor and sports markets. Over the past five years, we have experienced rapid growth so we are looking for someone who can use their knowledge of products, market trends, and retailer demand to accurately maintain inventory across our entire distribution network. Ideally, the successful candidate will have a strong planning background in a distribution and/or manufacturing environment, and is adept at working in a team environment.
Buff, Inc. is a collaborative company full of outdoor sports enthusiasts and participation in various sports is a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning, Forecasting and Purchasing:
• Maintain accurate SKU level demand forecast and execute purchase orders utilizing forecasting and replenishment planning tools. Work with sales, finance, product, marketing and operational teams to generate purchasing plans for all products categories.
• Manage the process of forecasting products by category and subfamily - and communicate to parent company in Spain and other suppliers.
• Create and execute an open to buy plan based on corporate revenue goals and sales launch strategy.
• Responsible for the communication of future inventory receipts and resolve stock out causes.
• Responsible for style level forecasts for specific categories from pre-season estimates to in-season monthly demand forecasts using historical data, statistical projections, and market feedback. Monitor and maintain planned forecasts throughout the season.
• Clear and effective communication of forecast confidence, product category opportunities, and projected risks to VP/General Manager.
• Manage problem resolution involving discrepancies between purchase order, delivered quantity, quality and/or price. Monitor receipts for planned cost integrity and communicate shifts in cost structure to Operations team regularly.
• Track computerized procurement records of items or services purchased, costs, on-time delivery, quality and performance.
• Identify cost savings opportunities and assist in developing innovative approaches to supply chain management.
• Work with relevant shipping companies to ensure cost effectiveness of freight (& duty where necessary) for air freight, ocean freight containers or LCL, POP displays, web orders, etc.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Inventory Accuracy:
• Create, document and maintain processes around cycle count and inventory accuracy activities in our Santa Rosa warehouse, including:(1) development of corrective action process around cycle count results and (2) inventory management processes to drive improvements.
• Facilitate year-end physical inventory count with 3PL warehouse and manage physical inventory count at Santa Rosa warehouse.
• Participate in the monthly 3PL warehouse inventory activity reconciliation. Identify processing issues and drive resolution of differences and root cause corrective actions to prevent issues from reoccurring.
• Monitor and provide visibility to obsolescence issues around warehouse inventory.
• Manage company’s ERP item master file, including item setup, product coding, and maintenance.
• Perform data analysis on ad-hoc projects and present results. Extract important information and summarize concisely and accurately in writing or oral presentation.
• Report inventory availability to Customer Service (CS) and work with CS on customer shipping schedules to ensure optimal sales fulfillment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Manage two employees:
o Inventory Coordinator (Part-time)
o Warehouse Shipping Clerk (Full-time)
