Overview:

Responsible for the development and execution of design concepts for the UNIONBAY Youngmen’s/Boys Tops category, to include knits, wovens, sweaters, and graphic tees, under direction of the UNIONBAY Division President.

A day in the life:

• Identifying trends in fashion, fabrications, and color through research of appropriate markets
• Working collaboratively with the Design team to create and present concepts for the line, focusing on trend, general styling, prints and pattern direction to present to Head Designer and other management
• Conceptualizing and sketching multiple silhouette ideas that represent the target customer
• Selecting fabrics and trims reviewing and managing fabric development, lab dips, strike-off’s and finish testing
• Providing graphic concepts and reviewing direction with the Head Designer relay information to graphic team and create graphics, as needed.
• Preparing sketches to spec and creating tech packages
• Maintaining a high proficiency in all aspects of fit , from sales samples to production.
• Adhering to the Youngmen’s/Boys design timing calendar working within design budget guidelines
• Maintaining accurate and complete documentation of all design-related communication maintaining and communicating all line information directly with the Design and Merchandising departments for the Tops category.
• Supervising and mentoring staff, as needed
• Handling special projects, as required
