About the Role:
The Director for DTC Merchandising develops product strategy & assortment in support of the TOMS DTC Channel in alignment with company and channel topline revenue, margin, and inventory goals. This person manages end-to-end product life cycles for the TOMS DTC business by selecting the optimal product assortment to support seasonal selling, identifying key product launch dates, and managing promotional and exit strategies. The Director will partner across cross-functional teams including Product, Planning, Brand, Digital Marketing, Merchandising, Site Merchandising to create revenue-driving product strategies in line with the business and the brand. This role will also interact on a regular basis with TOMS executive leadership, advocating for the needs of the DTC business and providing information regarding the DTC consumer and ongoing sales trends. The Director of Merchandising will be a leader for the DTC Team, this role reports to the VP of DTC.
What You'll Do:
! Collaborate with Product teams to ensure DTC product needs are met thru global inline offerings and development of exclusive product. Drive global conversations and advocate for the needs of the TOMS DTC Channel during product development meetings and line reviews. Lead conversations & collaborate with the CEO, CBO and VP of Product during product meetings by bringing a strong data, trend and fashion perspective to the business. Provide guidance for DTC product opportunities and challenges.
! Create seasonal product assortments & sales forecasts for the DTC Channel for all product categories carried on TOMS.com including Footwear, Eyewear, Apparel, Shoe Care. Create product lifecycle strategies that align with a buy now/wear now strategy as dictated by the consumer. Develop & execute promotional & markdown strategies that align with topline financial goals while maximizing sales revenue & margin. Drive key product stories & critical launch dates that align both global marketing priorities & DTC volume drivers. Communicate launch dates & key item focus to site merch and digital marketing teams throughout the year
! Establish and own DTC Exclusive product assortment. Maintain significant sales penetration in exclusive offerings as key strategy for DTC growth. Analyze sales, inventory, consumer acceptance, social demand and seasonal appropriateness on an ongoing basis. Lead cross collaboration with Product and Marketing/ODG Marketing teams ensuring business goals of DTC are achieved.
! Create, update, change, distribute and communicate seasonal assortment plans & forecasts to appropriate business partners as needed. Present to Product team and Leadership team the seasonal assortments and financial implications including impact on sales, margin and sell thru metrics compared to budget. Collaborate within DTC team on open-to-buy, financial goals, promotional and markdown strategies to achieve sales and margin goals. Present weekly business results to TOMS Leadership providing ongoing guidance on product performance, successes and challenges. This role requires organizing and formatting large amounts of data into digestible reports for others.
! Continuously drive collaboration throughout the TOMS organization cross-functionally with Product, Planning, Site Merchandising, Digital Marketing & Brand Marketing Teams. Drive conversation with concrete data and current state of the business to help identify sales & product opportunities
! Hire, train and manage team of Buyer(s) in support of the DTC Channel
What You Bring:
! 10-12 years of work experience in buying/planning/product merchandising, preferably in the footwear or apparel space
! 3 to 5 years experience creating assortment plans & bringing new product ideas forward
! 3 to 5 years experience managing end-to-end product life cycles
! 3 to 5 years experience forecasting sales or demand at class and sku level
! Advanced Excel Skills
! Familiar with Power Point
! Experience working for private label or in-house brand
! Commitment to making kindness in business a standard
