Director of Brand MarketingLocation: Onsite in our Park City, Utah Headquarters office

Job Overview:

Backcountry is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Director of Marketing to join our team of outdoor enthusiasts. As the Director of Brand Marketing, you will lead the development and implementation of the company's brand marketing strategy, with the goal of increasing brand awareness, driving customer acquisition, and improving customer retention. You will be responsible for building and managing a team of brand marketers and working cross-functionally with other teams to achieve the company's marketing goals. The Director will set and execute strategy for both marketing programs and deliver results that ladder to broad company goals. The ideal candidate can juggle strategic development in conjunction with business goals, change management, prioritization, and execution.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive brand positioning strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives and drives brand awareness, customer acquisition, and customer retention.

Partner with stakeholders across the business including merchandising, technology, sales, and operations to align on long-term marketing and MDF roadmap and mutual dependencies.Â

Work closely with the product, design, and content teams to develop and execute brand campaigns and initiatives that promote the company's products and services to ensure that the company's brand is consistently represented across all touchpoints.

Monitor and analyze the performance of brand marketing initiatives, and customer segmentation analysis, providing regular reports and insights to the leadership team.

Partner with merchant and integrated channel marketing teams and lead/manage the social media strategy.

Develop and maintain relationships with key external partners, including athletes, influencers, content creators, and media outlets, to maximize the company's exposure and reach.

Oversee both endemic and non-endemic marketing partnerships while overseeing owned-brands marketing and related wholesale projects.

Align with the retail and visual merchandising teams to ensure consistent brand representation in retail stores.

Coordinate with local store teams to support traffic-driving initiatives for all brick-and-mortar retail stores.

Ensure that all brand marketing initiatives are executed on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality.

Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, continually seek out new opportunities to improve the company's brand marketing efforts, and attend events and activations as needed.

Guide calendar, process, and milestone meetings to achieve strategic outcomes.Â

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

A total of 8+ years of marketing experience, including customer-oriented eCommerceÂ

A proven leader with the ability to motivate and inspire a cross-disciplinary team of marketersÂ

Strong quantitative problem-solving skills with an ability to tackle unstructured/undefined problems and apply strategic frameworksÂ

Experience in developing marketing initiatives to drive a high level of customer engagement.Â

Experience in change management, taking ownership of operational functions, and implementing change in broad, complex, and multi-functional areasÂ

Strong ability in conceptualizing and developing presentations for senior-level meetings. Can guide team members/colleagues in the development of high-quality presentationsÂ

High attention to detailÂ

Proven influencing skillsÂ

Project management and prioritizationÂ

A clear desire and ability to be collaborative. Must be able to work well in a collegial and casual work environmentÂ
