SUMMARY OF DIVISION:
Since its creation in 1993, the group of companies that comprise Marc Ecko Enterprises has grown to include: *ecko unltd.® men's and Red by Marc Ecko® juniors apparel, as well as outerwear, footwear, watches, eyewear, belts, bags, and more.
Marc Ecko Enterprises also includes Marc Ecko “Cut & Sew” (a contemporary menswear line launched Fall 2004) G-Unit® clothing and accessories (a joint venture with multi-platinum musician, 50 Cent) Zoo York® (a line of action sports-inspired clothing and accessories) and Avirex® (a mid-tier brand launched Spring 2005).
The Company also publishes Complex® magazine, a men’s consumer magazine with a rate base of 335,000 and Marc Ecko Entertainment, a full-service production company, with a focus on interactive entertainment. *ecko unltd. products are available in over 5,000 stores domestically and in over 60 countries internationally, as well as through over 40 of its own retail stores across the country.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ROLE:
The Senior Designer/Merchandiser works in collaboration with the Design Director/Team to focus and initiate Zoo York® brand’s seasonal fashion themes, manage all aspects of Time & Action Calendar, execute a cohesive merchandise mix, and maintains integrity of Zoo York® brand profile through product that is consistent with key business strategies.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:
• Develops product mix down to classification and style level. Able to design within line plans that meet retail needs (domestic & international) with fixture planning in mind.
• Interprets the seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities and merchandise trends for area of responsibility.
• Creates original concepts that encompass style, color, and fabric for assigned brand to ensure customer focused offerings that meet fashion and quality requirements consistent with the brand profile.
• Works with Sales in monitoring and analyzing performance by retailer, program, style, and color with team to identify action for future development or current on-order.
• Travels as needed, shops appropriate markets, and works with design team to conceptualize the product design for the season.
• Initiates and designs complete technical packages of each style, specifically using Adobe Illustrator program.
• Partners with Graphic Design team to present Concept and Original designs that will be reviewed by Design Director for adoption into collection
• Ensures adherence to the seasonal Time & Action calendar. Develops, designs, and merchandises all products from the concept to production.
• Completes timely approval of all proto counter samples, art strike-offs, handlooms, knitdowns during design development process. Works with Production team and ensures that the final assortment for fit, construction, fabrication, coloration is consistent and maintains the integrity of the brand.
• Works with Marketing/Creative Services in the development of marketing, publicity, signing, and visual campaigns to support new product launches with packaging and labeling to ensure that all new product launches have the appropriate packaging, hangtags, and labels as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:
• Must have 3-6 years of design experience working within an action-sports clothing company
• Must have strong working knowledge of Abode Illustrator and Photoshop programs
• Must have a strong ability to design around concepts and have great color sense
• Must be able to execute detailed design sketches and have technical knowledge of garment construction
