Job Description

The Product Developer will assist in all aspects of the development process that commence at the designer's concept drawings bringing the product to production-ready status. This position reports to Product Development Manager.

Primary responsibilities
-- Comprehensive development of selected products beginning with design concept through bulk production providing clear and consistent standards in product innovation and quality

-- Responsible to meet the product development timeline

-- Responsible for maintenance of an accurate garment bill of materials

-- Establish and maintain sample, fabric and trim database / libraries.

-- Establish and maintain color standards, lab dip and strike off submits

-- Develop new fabrics, prints and trims through vendors and manufacturers to drive innovation while understanding the capabilities of sourcing bases and adhering to the company calendar

-- Maximize price versus consumer value within target cost. Ensure materials used support the required costing structure.

-- Negotiate FOB pricing requirements to meet target margins

-- Participate in product review meetings and fit sessions examine and measure all prototypes to ensure details, specs and workmanship is correct

-- Upload all tech pack changes to server ensuring that the tech packs on the Brandbase database are always accurate

-- Identify key issues in pricing, construction and workmanship. Communicate issues / problem-solving ideas on these issues allowing progression to the next prototype stage required

-- Daily communicate between the design, merchandising, vendors and development team

-- Coordinate salesman and photo shoot sample development and deliveries

-- Assist in completion of tech packs by creating and maintaining BOM and spec sheets

-- Work daily in Adobe Illustrator making the needed corrections to tech details, colorways and spec sheets while maintaining accurate tech notes

-- Support in proofing of catalogs to ensure accurate style information

-- Independent international and domestic travel required
