Assists the Communications Manager in developing and executing a comprehensive media relations and resort communications campaign for Northstar and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resorts. The Communications & Public Relations Supervisor serves as primary public relations contact and representative to build, maintain and manage the reputation of Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort. Oversees on-site communication channels and snow reporting at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Ensures that media, guests and staff members obtain correct and timely information via various communication sources in an enthusiastic and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Public Relations
1. Serves as public relations contact and representative to build, maintain and manage the reputation of Northstar-at-Tahoe and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resorts.
2. Ability to effectively and accurately communicate resort information and promote the resorts’ brand to print/television/online media outlets.
3. Writing and disseminating press releases, media alerts and pitch letters on resort news to various media databases, under the direction of the communications manager.
4. Manages media visits by coordinating travel arrangements, setting up lodging reservations, comp passes, food and beverage needs and organizing itineraries for media visits.
5. Maintains accurate logs for press clippings and manages database entry/updates and photo/slide library organization.
6. Facilitates media tours and available to meet and greet journalists who visit the resorts.
7. Cultivates relationships with key media contacts by communicating with them regularly and acting as a resource.
8. Assists communications manager in the development and on-going updating of premise statements for crisis communications. Responds to crises at resorts in a timely manner by preparing talking points, media statements and conducting interviews.
9. Develops pitches that effectively promote the resorts’ marketing objectives and communicates them in a compelling manner so that they result in media placements.
10. Communicates concisely and accurately during on-camera interviews, phone interviews and all written and verbal communications.

Communications
1. Responsible for proactively seeking information on all marketing and resort activities including special events, daily operations, Village construction updates, schedules, etc. through regular communication with operational departments, profit centers, communications manager and marketing directors.
2. Directly responsible for managing all on-site communications at Northstar, including Channel 12, radio station, resort phone lines, recorded informational messages and internal newsletters.
3. Oversees the implementation of RRC surveys at Northstar-at-Tahoe. Ensures that daily quotas of guest surveys are met.
4. Manages two snow reporters at Northstar to ensure the successful execution of accurate daily conditions reports, snow phones, website updates, snow alerts and activity reports.
5. Serves as the main information contact for Northstar resort staff and disseminates weekly and monthly newsletters internally and externally, covering resort news and special events. Also attends appropriate mountain operations meetings and disseminates information to snow reporters to ensure accurate reports.
6. Responsible for extensive proofing of newsletters, press releases, brochure copy and other pieces of written collateral for both resorts.
7. Develops and produces content for resort newsletters to ensure successful dissemination of information to employees and guests.
8. Directly responsible for developing thorough knowledge of both resorts’ products and services.
9. Exercises effective internal communication skills with other resort employees.
10. Assists in crafting various forms of internal and external written/verbal communication for both resorts.
11. Assists in the facilitation of photo and video shoots at both mountains.

Other
1. Contribute to team effort by participating in job sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees participating in safety meetings accepting diverse assignments maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
2. Attends meetings with media and other employees on behalf of Northstar-at-Tahoe and Sierra-at-Tahoe resorts’ marketing department and participates in open dialogue, relays meeting outcomes and action items to the marketing team.
3. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
4. Some minor travel may be required as well as commuting between North and South Shore.
5. Skiing/snowboarding on intermediate to advanced trails is required. Some golf skill and knowledge of golf industry is preferred.
