As a key leader on the Product Creation Team, the Director of Clothing Product Development will successfully manage all aspects of the product development process from concept to confirmation.

You will lead the development of innovative products using state of the art textiles and materials to enhance Fox’s clothing line. Provide vision for continued growth and elevation of your team and the products it handles. Be accountable for all aspects of the product development efforts for highest possible achievement of products that continually position Fox as an industry leader. Use your exceptional vision, strategic planning, and leadership skills to collaborate with vendors, suppliers and the product creation team to pioneer original, technically innovative concepts that will continue to push boundaries and maintain Fox as a leader in Action Sports industries.

Your advanced knowledge of our customer, business and performance requirements will allow you to develop insights and opportunities that will feed into the development of innovative products. This role demands in-depth knowledge and understanding of materials, development and manufacturing processes, market research and commercial awareness. In this position, you will be recognized as an expert Accountable for business results and executing key initiatives. Essential Functions of this Job:
Team – Build a team that effectively and efficiently supports the needs of the business. Promote harmony, innovation and collaboration.

Process – Continually analyze the effectiveness of the development process and modify as necessary. Initiate new ideas that improve efficiencies and results. Maintain your perspective as being one step ahead.

Collaboration – Position the Product Development dept as a support system of research, answers and miracles. Work closely with all product creation teams to achieve the big ideas and final line expectations.

Vision – Visualize future objectives and goals for the dept. Work closely with Design and Merchandising to be aware of Big Ideas and line expectations to come up with new and supportive plans that guide the teams and beat expectations.

Business - continually improve margins by strategizing with merchandising, design, planning and sales on programs and situations that save on every product. Maintain ‘value for cost’ with each category and give input where value for the cost is not achieved. For key revenue generating products and categories – you must maintain margins and improve on those where opportunity allows to support maximum impact to FOX profitability.

Essential Functions of this Management Role:
1. Create and communicate a clear and consistent vision with goals and strategies that are aligned with Fox core values, brand philosophies and plans for growth. Provide detailed business strategies, resource plans, budgets and status reports that maintain goals and strategies and achieve results.

2. Work as part of the Product Creation Team made up of Merchandising, Design, Development and Production in order to manage and meet all company initiatives and expectations. Foster an attitude of elevation that sets the framework for quality and integrity in our standards, processes and the development team.


3. Work independently with minimal supervision, yet meet all project deliverables. Identify next steps and anticipate issues of concern to react in a timely manner. You will work independently and use your own discretion and judgment that properly represents Fox Head Inc. Be able to make recommendations on matters of consequence to the business and our end customers.

4. Anticipate and predict challenges in order to address them early and to avoid compromising situations, but all the while, ensuring quality, integrity and cost efficiencies. Know solutions to problems and follow all situations through to completion, working with appropriate departments and contacts as necessary for resolution and proper communication.

5. Develop and motivate team members. Contribute through your actions and communications a positive, professional and trusted team culture. Demonstrate dynamic and inspirational leadership to positively impact momentum and business.

6. Foster innovation and continuous learning. Recommend new methods of assembling of a garment and combination of materials and manufacturing technology to reach new levels of performance, style and quality. Provide training and education of specific topics that continue knowledge and strength to the industry we are in.

7. Work effectively under pressure with the mental ability to conduct complex interpersonal interactions with employees and colleagues. You must be able to troubleshoot, coordinate and perform special tasks simultaneously, all the while making decisions with discretion.

8. Travel to foreign countries to visit factories and suppliers to assist with development and production issues. You will travel to research potential new countries, factories and suppliers.


Minimum Education, Experience and Skills Required:.
• Able to perform with expertise, all functions of development.
• Minimum 8-10 years of product development experience and 5 years management.
• Ability to use discretion and independent judgment with confident decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership and team building skills are necessary. Proven ability to inspire, influence and lead a team.
• Expert ability of Windows platform programs with an emphasis on Word and Excel. Strong ability with business and retail math.
• Expert ability of time management, budgeting, and leadership.
• Expert knowledge of compliance standards and testing and softgoods manufacturing.
• Expert knowledge of costing and negotiation, forecasting, manufacturing, sewing assembly, materials, construction techniques and basic molding.
• Strong understanding of patterns, grading and fitting.
• Must be able to manage multiple projects, across several categories, within the set timeline and meeting the standards set by management.


Scheduling Requirements:
• Must be available to travel to foreign countries for a minimum of 6-8 weeks per year at times in two-week segments.
