REPORTING TO: Design Director, Footwear and Soft Goods
ORGANIZATION: Equipment R&D – Soft Goods US
ROLE SUMMARY:
Come work with one of the most innovative cycling brands in the world! We are looking for a talented Jr. Footwear designer to come work with some of the best talent in the industry. We are located near the Santa Cruz Mountains with amazing road & mountain trails, awesome road biking routes and world class surf. We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the Santa Cruz Mystery Spot and the list goes on…..

HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:
· Through a passion for footwear design & cycling, create the best footwear products on the market
· Design meaningful and innovative products that inspire cyclists & lead the industry
· Create detailed 2D illustrations &/or 3D models as necessary to communicate with Product Management, Marketing & Asian/European factory sources
· Maintain a high level of design and detail
· Support the brand design direction by developing links with other product creation teams
· Collaborate with engineers, project managers, developers, graphic designers, and marketing when the situation arises
· Attend trade shows for inspiration and to stay current with trends
· Apply & maintain fit standards and provide recommendations for improvements
WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN:
· Ideal candidate has bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Product Design or comparable training. 1-2 years experience in a related industry.
· Should have a performance driven, innovative approach to the creation of products
· Ability to create & apply graphic & color stories on footwear products
· Experience working with international cultures and vendors
· Design skills including drawing, sketching, ideation, color theory, texture and visual presentation
· An ability to solve problems by innovative thinking, and exploring solutions in 2D & 3D.
· Ability to work with the direction of others & a keen desire to further develop knowledge & skills in footwear design
· Basic technical understanding of manufacturing processes in footwear
· Strong computer skills: Adobe Illustrator (highly competent) and Photo Shop, 3D software would be a bonus.
· Sustainable design sensibilities
· Ability to work in a fast paced environment & complete tasks within product creation timelines.
