The Rome Snowboard Design Syndicate (SDS) is looking for an experienced Design Engineer to join our in-house product development team. In addition to a solid working knowledge of snowboarding and snowboard equipment, exceptional organizational, presentation and communication skills are required.
As a Design Engineer at the SDS you will be a critical member of the design and development team, providing engineering support from initial concepts through prototyping, production tooling, qualification testing and final product sign off for manufacturing. Responsible for conceiving, designing and developing innovative engineering solutions that are manufacturable and cost effective.
Significant domestic and international travel required
Responsibilities to include:
- Primary Product Design Engineer for Binding category
- Management of design and tooling timelines
- Daily communication with PM, vendors and sub contractors
- Setting up and managing binding category QC and testing protocol
- Integration of Engineering Design and Industrial Design of final product
Qualifications Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design
- 3-5 years experience in related mechanical product design and development – ideally snowboarding equipment related
- 3D solid modeling experience with strong surfacing skills essential. SolidWorks preferred
- Design Experience with injection molded, cast and formed metal parts essential.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers developing metal and plastic parts desirable.
- Experience with tooling design, FEA and mold flow analysis a plus
- Highly organized, detail oriented and deadline driven
- Excellent communication skills
