Now let me tell you about something that might just make your day: Sole Technology is looking for a Senior Apparel Designer-ThirtyTwo for our Apparel Department. The Senior Designer will manage the business categories of ThirtyTwo from the design/technical side including personal work load and design direction. If this sounds like you, then read on!

As Senior Apparel Designer-ThirtyTwo you will be responsible but not limited to the following:

• Design: Design innovative and compelling products for all categories of 32. Create design winning concepts that entice our primary consumer to purchase 32. On a seasonal basis develop relevant products that speak to the brand stories that will be told in the market. Balance the defined design language of the brand with new looks that inspire the consumer and moves the brand to new places. Collaborate with Merchandising, Development and SMU Management to focus on product designs for market success. Actively see expert input to develop appropriate designs with regard to cost/value, fit and performance, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising and aesthetic finish.
1. Be the key partner in nurturing the brand
identity and distinctive 32 outerwear/apparel
offerings with a creative and timeless design
vision.
2. Creation of seasonal inspiration boards and
product overviews for Pre-Concept and 2D
presentations.
3. Design and present each seasonal collection’s
story to the 32 brand team and customers under
aggressive time lines.
4. Coordinate free lance graphic designs for
specific categories.
5. Build and continually improve snow sports
competency across all categories.
• Development: Make product ready for commercialization. Finalize tech packages in nominated PLM system and guarantee that all product details are executed correctly. Details include but are not limited to materials, colors, logo embellishments, technical features, fit, design language, branding. Work closely with internal printables developers to make sure product is finished to desired specifications. Share knowledge of commercialization process to all members of design teams as appropriate.
1. Develop and execute clear and detailed
technical kits for development.
2. Interact cross functionally with Merchandising,
Development, and Tech Design on seasonal line
development, including Fit Sessions.
3. Responsible for pre-production and production
approval of fabrics, colors, findings and trim.
4. Implement cost savings procedures and adheres
to merchandise costing plans.
5. Approval of trims, fabric and color lab dips
and strike-offs for s/samples.
• Research: Appreciate our core consumer and the
activities they participate in. Balance time by
reading vertical and mainstream publications,
visiting web sites, and understanding what motivates
the consumer in all segments. Spend time in the
market exploring relevant places that our consumer
visits and spends time. Understand our competition,
their brand message and their product lines. Expand
your knowledge of each category’s true target
market. Must demonstrate the distinctions between
retailer and end consumer.
1. Monthly research and presentation from core
through mainstream accounts.
2. Lead process of selecting seasonal design
trends, concepts, and colors based on market
research.

These are the qualifications you’ll need:
Education and/or Experience
Required
 5+ Years experience of Design experience
required, preferably in the snow/outdoor sport
industry.
 3+ Years experience in the following:
o Designing technical snow/outdoor sport
products across multiple categories.
o Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Must be
current.
o Garment construction and textiles,
including price points and merchandising
needs.
o BA or BFA in Apparel Design.
 Passion every day to design compelling, cutting
edge product.

Preferred
 Action Sports Industry experience
 Hand Illustration skills as well as Line Art
Illustration
 PLM experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
o Requires knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe
Photoshop, and Line Art Illustration. Working
knowledge of Keynote, PowerPoint, Excel, and
Entourage.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
o In example: This is primarily a sedentary office
classification and employees work in an office
environment with moderate noise levels,
controlled temperature conditions and no direct
exposure to hazardous physical substances.
Employees have occasional exposure to irate
customers, staff and public and private
representatives in interpreting and enforcing
departmental policies and procedures.

o Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and
retrieve data using a computer keyboard or
calculator and to operate standard office
equipment. The position occasionally bends,
stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls drawers to
retrieve and file information and lifts and
carries reports and records that typically weigh
less than 20 pounds.
