With strong growth across North America and a lean, efficient team, we are ready to expand our US market presence and are seeking a seasoned sales leader to help guide that trajectory.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Hillsound has built strong brand recognition in Canada, and over the past few years, our visibility and sell-through in the United States have grown significantly, particularly through key online channels and major retail partners (REI, DSG, etc.). We see this momentum as a major opportunity and are ready to expand more aggressively into the US market.
We are looking for a Fractional US Sales Director, a highly experienced sales leader (10+ years in the outdoor industry) who can drive US sales through close collaboration with existing sales rep groups, open new strategic accounts, and expand our footprint by identifying and contracting new rep agencies in regions where we do not yet have coverage.
This role is ideal for a veteran sales executive, consultant, or semi-retired industry leader who wants meaningful, strategic work without administrative burden.
This is NOT a day-to-day admin job.
- This is a relationship-driven, strategy-focused, revenue-generating leadership role that will directly shape Hillsound’s expansion across the US.
WHAT YOU WILL DO (Core Responsibilities)
1. Lead & Develop the US Sales Rep Network
- Manage, motivate, and evaluate existing sales reps across US regions
- Identify gaps in territory coverage and onboard new reps as needed
- Strengthen relationships with rep groups and ensure alignment with brand goals
2. Open New Accounts & Expand Market Reach
- Introduce Hillsound to key US outdoor retailers (regional & national)
- Leverage existing industry connections to secure meetings with major buyers
- Identify emerging markets, niche opportunities, and regional growth channels
3. Create & Execute US Sales Strategy
- Set quarterly and annual sales objectives
- Develop go-to-market plans for new products and seasonal lines
- Analyze competitive landscape and pricing trends
4. Represent Hillsound at Industry Events (as needed)
- Outdoor Retailer, regional rep shows, buying group expos
- Support product storytelling and brand positioning

You focus purely on growth, strategy, and relationships.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years experience in outdoor industry sales
- Strong track record of leading US rep groups
- Established buyer relationships (regional & national)
- Deep understanding of outdoor retail dynamics
- Self-starter who thrives in a fractional/consulting structure
- Based in the United States
ENGAGEMENT STRUCTURE
- Type: Fractional / Contract (Part-time, Remote)
- Hours: ~10–15 hours per week
- Compensation: Monthly Retainer + Performance Commission (Open to discussion based on experience & network)
- Reporting: Reports to the President (Final Decision maker)
- Primary Liaison: Office manager will act as your primary point of contact for day-to-day communication, translation of strategic directives, and operational support.
