TheGCHQ Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) Satellite is amultidisciplinary team of researchers, innovators, and scientists who lead with science to make athletes* measurably better. The lab will be responsible for delivering validated insights and state-of-the-art capabilities to drive the future of Nike products and services. As diverse as our athletes* are, our evidence-based solutions meet the constantly evolving demands of sport and life. We apply scientific methods and research results to drive new concepts and platforms across multiple innovation teams.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As Senior Director of the GCHQ NSRL Satellite,you will lead the recruiting anddevelopmentof an applied scientific team of researchers who are focused on: understanding the unique needs of Chinese athletes*, driving moonshots that will unlock insights to drive innovation from China to the rest of the world, and delivering game changing insights and innovation to make all athletes* measurably better.you will develop, shape and align the strategic vision of the satellite and research teams with the broader innovation goals of WHQ and GCHQ strategy for the NSRL lab. You will champion the role of science and research at GCHQ, while working across multiple functional units to ensure maximum impact to the business and the brand. You will ensure active communication with the business; keeping all functions up to date on successes and opportunities. You will be the point person with GCHQ and WHQ senior leaders and will align the NSRL and the Product Testing teams.You will assist in managing the facilities and operations of the GCHQ NSRL Satellite.Additionally, you will lead the recruiting and development of an applied scientific team of researchers who are focused on: understanding the unique needs of Chinese athletes*, driving moonshots that will unlock insights to drive innovation from China to the rest of the world, and delivering game changing insights and innovation to make all athletes* measurably better.
The candidate needs to be equal parts versatile business leader, people leader, research-minded and innovative collaborator with the ability to partner with disparate teams and functions across GCHQ and WHQ. In combination with the Principal Researcher, this person needs to bring energy and curiosity to understanding complex research challenges and then partner external partners, designers, product developers and technologists to bring to life innovative products and services.This person needs to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
As a successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
Experience creating a vision, strategy and goals, for a business unit or preferably, a sports science lab
Proven record of successfully leading, inspiring, and mentoring a multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful results to the business.Specific experience leading scientists andresearchtestingfunction a plus.
Ability todrive the construction and development of a new Nike Sports Research lab
Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization and deliver complex solutions to multiple business units
Highly skilled in engaging with stakeholders and aligning work with relevant teams and leaders
Capable of communicating complex topics todiverse audiences
In cooperation with the Principal Researcher, drive research and apply scientific insights, specifically related to sport science, performance, product and injury.

Education & Experience
Masters in Business or related field +12 years industry experience or Ph.D. +10 years ofexperience
Previous experience working in science and/or research a plus
