General Warehouse Worker (Picker/Packer)
Location: Martinsville, VA
The Martinsville Distribution Center operates on three shifts as indicated below. Please select your shift preference when applying for this position.
1st Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday - Thursday) 10 hour shifts
?Starting pay is $15.50 per hour and will increase to $18.30 per hour after 12 months.
2nd Shift: 5:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. (Monday - Thursday) 10 hour shifts
?Starting pay is $16.10 per hour and will increase to $18.90 per hour after 12 months.
Weekend Shift: 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) 12 hour shifts
?Starting pay is $16.25 per hour and will increase to $19.05 per hour after 12 months.

General Job Description:
Picker - To fill a customer's order by accurately and expediently picking the order sku's (stock keeping unit) and properly packing the units in the container in the flow rack or shelving areas.
! Walking at a steady pace to pick units from a wide range of aisles and bins
! Reaching and grasping to pick cartons and individual units from racking shelves and place picked units into totes
! Pushing a pick cart, pushing and pulling to move tote off and on conveyor and cart
! Low bending and high reaching to pick from low and high shelves
! Occasional lifting of up to 45# cartons or totes to place them on conveyor
! Must be able to walk up/down steps
Packer - To verify outbound accuracy of picked orders from Active Pick areas and pack units in shipping cartons, seal and send customer orders to shipping as efficiently and accurately as possible.
! Standing at station
! Pushing and pulling cartons off of conveyor to workstation
! Grasping to take garments out of tote
! Occasional lifting of cartons up to 45#
! Pushing cartons on to conveyor take away line
! Lifting empty totes from workstation
! Bending while placing empty totes on take away line
! Squeezing the trigger of the scanner
! Pushing down and pulling to close the boxes
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Start your career with a premiere employer and be trained on the job by one of our experienced employees.
High school diploma or equivalent education is preferred, but not required.
One year of experience is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge and Application:
Basic level of education will be required; reading, writing, and basic numeracy !Required to follow simple instructions !No formal occupational training required
Problem Solving:* Problems encountered will be defined, repetitive, and routine with a solution readily available * All nonstandard problems will be referred to supervisor or more experienced incumbent* Solutions are obvious or there are a finite number of clear-cut alternatives* Solutions can be reached and applied immediately
Interaction:* Interaction with others is limited to own team with little requirement for internal or external contact* Basic numeracy and literacy skills required* Displays common courtesy and politeness and uses basic verbal skills
Impact:* Supports the achievement of goals through personal effort in own work area* Impact will be limited to the delivery of own work tasks which will be managed on a day-to-day or task-by-task basis*
Accountability:* Accountable for delivery of own tasks to agreed time and quality standards*
