SCOTT Sports is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time position of HUMAN RESOURCES & PAYROLL MANAGER to be located in our business office in Ogden, Utah. SCOTT Sports was established in 1958 and has grown into an international action-sport brand. Core sports divisions for the brand include: Bike, Wintersport, Motosport and Running. Internationally based in Fribourg, Switzerland, the North American headquarters is located at the mouth of Parley’s Canyon in Salt Lake City, UT.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the support of all human resource needs for SCOTT USA, maintaining compliance to federal and state employment laws, ensuring policies and procedures are applied consistently to SCOTT employees; creating an open and trusting environment to facilitate effective employee relations and deal with personnel issues; advising supervisors and managers on the application of policies, practices and employment law; benefits administration; recruiting, hiring, onboarding; administration of training programs; lead and execute plans for company events such as Christmas parties, etc.; oversight and processing of semi-monthly payroll; and other duties as needed.
Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:
The HR Manager provides support for management and employees located in Ogden, Salt Lake, Sun Valley, Tacoma, and for sales reps located throughout the U.S.
Personnel Issues/Conflict Resolution
• Create an open & trusting environment so that people feel comfortable coming to HR for assistance
• Effectively deal with difficult people and situations
• Keep management and affected people in the loop
• Ensure proper documentation
• Professional & effective communication, written and verbal
• Follow-through/follow-up on issues to final resolution
• Effectively manage people who seek HR out for lengthy and unproductive grumbling sessions
• Ensure consistency across company in dealing with personnel issues
Human Resource Policies and Procedures
• Keep up knowledge of current labor law and ensure compliance
• Maintain company handbook and other written policies
• Communicate policies effectively to managers and people
• Monitor consistent adherence to policy throughout company
• Maintain compliant personnel files
Recruiting & Hiring
• Manage all recruiting and assist hiring managers in finding the best qualified candidates
• Conduct New Hire Orientation
Benefits Administration
• Administer health, dental, vision, FSA, and life insurance enrollments, etc.
• Reconcile monthly invoices for insurance and other benefits
• Work with insurance broker to coordinate effective renewals; obtain quotes, recommend coverage changes
• Promote use of the EAP
• Administer FMLA, ensuring legal compliance and consistency
• Act as liaison between employees and 401(k) TPA to execute enrollments, loans, hardship withdrawals, etc.
• Administer Workers Compensation: accident reporting, case management
• OSHA reporting
Payroll Administration
• Process and maintain payroll processes
• Coordinate and process semi-monthly payroll for all personnel throughout all companies in the US sector
• Review and ensure accuracy of authorized timesheets
• Track and deduct all garnishments and other specialized payroll deductions
SCOTT Employee Relations
• Work with management team to plan company events
• Effectively communicate upcoming events & company information
• Coordinate events such as:
- Summer & Winter Company Parties
- Angel Tree and Thanksgiving turkey giveaway
- Volunteer opportunities
- Appreciation and Recognition Awards
- Anniversary Awards
- Annual Health & Wellness Challenge
- Annual Health Fair
- Lunch-n-Learns via the EAP, health insurance, and other community resources to enhance our people’s health and wellness, financial, and general well-being
Training
• Effectively assess company training needs
• Research cost effective, high-quality training programs
• Develop and deliver in-house training where appropriate
• Solicit feedback for future improvement
External Relations
• Represent SCOTT as a member of the Utah Employers Council HR Roundtable
• Complete surveys for Employers Council, government, etc.
