PROGRAM SUMMARY

Bring your passion and insight to a company that is committed to driving long- term sustainable growth this summer for our 10-week summer internship at our Distribution Center in Portland, Oregon! Interns can expect to gain valuable hands-on experience within their department while building partnerships with teams and fellow interns along the way!

Duration: ~10 weeks
Estimated Date Options: May 24th- August 1st or June 21st to August 29th
ABOUT THE POSITION
The Industrial Engineering Intern is a member of the Global Distribution Engineering team and will support the delivery of engineering solutions to help answer the organization’s pressing challenges and opportunities. This role will focus on leading a project that supports current Engineering objectives, such as labor optimization, storage capacity constraints, productivity/accountability, or current CapEx projects. The candidate will utilize skills such as time study and Engineering principles to solve complex business problems and recommend solutions.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Lead an Engineering project involving research, costing, justification, and recommendation of solutions to support strategic initiatives.
Work cross functionally with Industrial Engineers, Workforce Optimization Team, IS, and operations team to improve distribution center process flow and work methods.
Utilize tools such as data analysis, ergonomic evaluation, value stream mapping, and safety considerations to recommend process improvements.?
YOU ARE
Able to work cross functionally in a fast-paced environment.
A strong communicator that can demonstrate an ability to work with all ranges of an organization through effective interpersonal, written, communication and relationship-building skills
Extremely organized, self-driven, detail-oriented, resourceful and flexible?
YOU HAVE
Basic knowledge of Engineering tools, such as AutoCad, time study, job analysis, and modeling through course work and previous intern or Capstone experience.
Capability to gather and interpret data such as experience with Parteto Charts, matrices, tables, etc.? Strong Microsoft Suite skills, including Visio, required.
Theoretical understanding or hands-on application of process improvement, LEAN and Six Sigma or similar principles.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Current student with one of the following academic standings: Rising Senior, Senior, Graduate/ MBA student
Degree relevant to the internship you are applying for
Must be able to participate in 10-week program for either date option provided above
Must be able to work onsite at our Distribution Center location for the duration of the internship- interns will partner directly with their managers regarding expectations to work collaboratively in office specified days of the week
NON-LOCAL CANDIDATE CONSIDERATIONS
Relocation assistance & housing is NOT provided- these costs and arrangements would be the responsibility of the intern for the entirety of the program
