It’s no secret that Sole Technology is a leader in our industry. So what makes us so great? Sure, without our customers (whom we love) we wouldn’t be able to pay the bills, but it’s our PEOPLE that give our company its heart and sole. (Pun intended.) We’re currently on the lookout for an Art Director to be a part of our Visual Communications Department and etnies brand. The Art Director is responsible for the creation and execution of all aspects of visual branding relating to the etnies brand within the required deadlines. You will be responsible for the creation and execution of all aspects of visual branding relating to the etnies brand as well as other new potential Sole Tech projects within the required deadlines. Collaborate with the etnies Design team in a team-oriented environment, while leading the team to achieve unity and cohesiveness of the brand’s aesthetic. Like what you see so far? Then Read on!
As etnies Art Director you will be responsible but not limited to the following:
• Conceptually you will need to plan visual branding objectives.
• Create design concepts for all media relating to brand (i.e., print ads, video advertising, apparel branding, packaging, website, P.O.P., logos, letterheads, catalogues, consumer flyers, print collateral, etc…)
• Present all visual branding concepts to directors, brand managers, and etnies Brand Group.
• Create visual design branding briefs/booklets for all depts.
• Create design briefs for freelance t-shirt artists, photographers, etc…
• Continuous involvement with all areas of brand product development (Footwear R&D, Apparel Design) as well as P.O.P. and marketing groups to ensure that the etnies Brand Group is working cohesively in the same direction in order to achieve a consistent aesthetic of the brand.
• Visual Branding Development and Execution is required to complete all visual branded materials (i.e., advertising, website design, catalogue design, t-shirts, P.O.P., packaging, consumer flyers, Visual Dept. requests, etc…) relating to the etnies brand as well as other new potential Sole Tech projects within the specified deadlines.
• Coordinate any necessary photo shoots and provide direction to photographers.
• Prepare and coordinate printing with printers to ensure all printing details are understood, most cost-efficient methods have been considered, and deadlines are met.
• Commission freelance artists when necessary.
These are the qualifications you’ll need:
• 4+ years exp as Art Director or Sr. level Graphic Designer and/or Art Director focused on print campaigns and collateral is required.
• Experience in Action Sports is important.
• MFA or BFA in Graphic Design is preferred.
• 2+ years experience in Digital media.Advanced knowledge in CS3-5, specifically: InDesign Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.
• Requires knowledge of how an art department or ad agency works. Must also be able to work with multi-departments as well of how a photo studio function. Must possess strong organization skills. Have ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at once. Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written. Must be deadline oriented. Skills required include use of knowledge of photography equipment, computers and fluent in Photoshop.
• Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and work under constant and competing deadlines.
