Role: Item Planner
Reports to: NAM Allocation & Fulfillment Manager
Scope: Individual Contributor
Location: Ventura, CA

The position serves as a results/outcome advocate with a focus on item sales forecasts and inventory optimization, responsible for confirming pre-season demand forecasts, validating pre-season buy quantities, aligning with regional buyers and planners, and updating sales forecasts and bulk orders in-season. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and efficient inventory management and develop strategies to achieve region and channel sales and inventory targets.
What You’ll Do
Pre-Season
Validate pre-season buy quantities by style-color
Align with region buyers, MFP planner and SP on future season replenishment product item/color plan
Coordinate with Allocation team to confirm pre-season demand forecast by DC to inform Supply Chain & Supply Planning activities
Input DTC bulk orders into D365 to protect pooled inventory for DTC channels
In-Season
Monthly update of current season item/color DTC sales forecasts & replenishment plans based on trend and inventory availability
Update bulk orders in D365 to support new sales forecast
Facilitate cross channel alignment for constrained inventory (where supply is less than demand)
Develop item level DM/promo/clearance strategies and what-if scenarios as needed to achieve sales or ending inventory plan

DM / Promotional / EOS clearance strategies & what-if scenarios

Experience You Bring
College degree in a related field, Commerce or Business Administration.
Strong background in merchandise planning and inventory optimization, preferably within the retail industry.
3+ years of experience in managing demand forecasts / forecasting sales, optimizing buy quantities, and analyzing inventory trends within the retail consumer products sector.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with leadership and cross-functional teams including buyers, planners and allocators.
A results-driven mindset, strong problem-solving skills to develop effective strategies and the ability to identify opportunities for sales and inventory optimization.
Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills, detail oriented and demonstrated ability to prioritize workload.
Expert knowledge of Excel is required with experience using demand forecasting and ERP inventory management (e.g., D365).
Hiring range: $90,000-$100,000
Pay range: $72,000-$108,000
At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
