Position Summary
The Jr. Graphic Artist position is a highly creative role working within Carver’s media and brand marketing team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for typography, organization, details, and photo editing. A passion for surfing, skateboarding and the surrounding culture is also a must. The responsibility of the Jr. Graphic Artist is to translate Carver’s brand vision into design. Through project management and technical application of graphic design software, the role is responsible for hands-on development of graphic applications, collateral materials, interactive interfaces, with the goal of translating marketing and branding strategies into innovative visual campaigns. The Jr. Graphic Artist is responsible for supporting the Marketing department with all marketing asset needs, including assisting the Media Manager and Marketing Manager with concepting and creating assets for print, photo, video, social, web, product and more.
Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the Jr Graphic Artist plays a lead role on art assignments for Carver’s business and develops concepts, layouts and final art as well as helps communicate strategies behind design ideas and executions. The Jr Graphic Artist ensures progress of projects within the required deadlines and collaborates with an external multifunctional team of designers, writers, video editors, photographers, and developers as well as in-house creative team to create solutions that satisfy ecommerce, digital storytelling, mobile, direct mail and in-store experiences.
Essential Job Functions:
• Elevate and evolve Carver’s brand aesthetic through graphic design and graphic production
• Design and make digital-ready art for a series of platforms and purposes including but not limited to;
• Website and Social Media Assets, Product images, Digital Advertisements
• Collaborate with Media Team during product and lifestyle photography production phase to ensure media
• team is fully supported in achievement of project goals
• Design and make print-ready art for a series of platforms and purposes including but not limited to; Product Graphics, Skateboard deck, Apparel, Wheels, Packaging
• Perform post-production activities for photo shoots
• Collaborate with external creative vendors, Freelance Graphic Designers, Artists and Printers
• Support and utilize project management software tool’s full potential
• Gather, utilize competitive and market intelligence, data and analytics to aid Carver’s design and development processes
• Marketing and Sales Communications: Catalogues, Order Form, Event flyers, Posters, Stickers, Banners, In-Store Displays
• Product Tech Packs: Vendor Spec Sheets, Reference Images, Graphic Files, Die lines
• Maintain Carver media asset library and ensure the timely performance of all file management requirements
• Accomplish all additional tasks and responsibilities as is required and assigned.
Requirements:
• 1-3 years or deign experience required.
• Strong typography and illustration skills.
• Strong understanding of digital, web, and print design.
• Ability to meet creative deadlines and manage multiple projects at once.
• Exceptional knowledge of of Adobe CC, typography, design theory, and print process.
• Traditional art and D.I.Y. techniques are a plus.
