HippyTree is seeking a creative and passionate Graphic Designer to join HippyTree’s rapidly expanding surf and outdoor sports apparel business, located in Los Angeles, CA.
Position Summary:
Founded in a Hermosa Beach garage by a local surfer, climber and artist, HippyTree is one of the fastest growing companies in the surf and outdoor apparel markets. We are seeking a Graphic Designer hungry to make an immediate and meaningful impact as we expand our brand. You will work directly with HippyTree’s head designer and be responsible for the conceptualization and execution of a variety of design projects.
You will be expected to consistently generate exciting ideas and designs that embody HippyTree’s “surf & stone” lifestyle. Primary duties will include graphic design for printable apparel, t-shirts, labels and trims. You will also create imagery and print collateral for trade shows, retail stores and marketing campaigns. Additional duties include catalog design, photography and post production photo editing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design or a related field
- Approximately 5 years’ experience in the design industry
- Compelling portfolio that demonstrates your design abilities
- Appreciation for nature and the outdoors (extra credit if you are a surfer or climber!)
- Excited to bring fresh, new ideas to the design team
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
- Comprehensive understanding of all elements of design including conceptualization, layout and file preparation
- Ability to create and translate art into repeat prints
- Extensive experience with post production photo editing including color correcting, retouching and product clipping
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Good typing skills
- Organized and detail-oriented with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Great at prioritizing your workload and meeting deadlines, even when things get crazy
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions
- Must be available to work off-hours when deadlines are looming
