The Manager - 3PL, Distribution Center is directly responsible for service excellence in the product fulfilment for the Columbia Sportswear Company (CSC) portfolio of brands through a third party provider. The role is located on site at the 3PL service provider’s location and continually monitors service to ensure company and customer expectations are met at the highest level. This person creates a strong partnership with the vendor, translating our business requirements, executing unique brand objectives, representing the demands of our stores and customers, predicting and resolving any operational/business/compliance gaps. This person builds effective relationships with appropriate stakeholders and teams at CSC headquarters. Together with other key leaders, this role is in charge of mitigating service risk during peak and non-peak periods, promptly addressing all foreseen or unforeseen disruptions.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Monitor the 3PL service provider operations to set and execute on contractual objectives. Ensure successful flow of Columbia Sportswear Company products by: scheduling to ensure smooth flow of information, product and processes achieving on-time performance in compliance with customer requirements
Regularly communicate and inform end to end stakeholders throughout the CSC portfolio on performance according to shared goals, standards and specifications
! Contribute to timely, efficient and cost-effective quality distribution of product by managing the assigned business portfolio and workload in partnership with the 3PL Service Provider and supporting vendors
monitoring technical workflow and business adjustments as needed
supporting forecasting and routing to ensure planned deliveries/commitments
maintaining proficient knowledge of various customer/brand/store requirements
practicing safety measures to ensure compliance to 3PL safety requirements
aid and observe team performance via data statistics/dashboard
Observe and coordinate with other departmental leadership to resolve challenges and mitigate risk to ensure that all inventories are available for allocation and shipment
Support seasonal forecast changes to analyze opportunities and options to improve fulfilment methods, anticipate and troubleshoot system issues, or recommended staffing levels.
Observe and evaluate that a high degree of security for company assets is maintained
Maintain positive open lines of communication in collaboration with CSC management, 3PL staff, and contacts in a variety of departments to translate business need and get operational efficiencies. Inclusive of :
Set targets and objectives
Participate in weekly business meetings, monthly roll-up and forecasting meetings, quarterly business review meetings
Attend required scheduled and ad-hoc team meetings in person and by phone
Influence operational stability in a fast-paced, demanding work environment while respectfully engaging with and relating to a diverse array of colleagues

Job Scope
Job involves a wide variety of work situations, unanticipated challenges or complexity, unique circumstances, and competing priorities. Job involves demanding deadlines and a high degree of detail. It requires problem solving and good independent judgement and initiative with little supervisory oversight on a day-to-day basis. Incumbent works from some established practices and procedures and is required to initiate the creation of new ones as needed. Decisions are made within general guidelines and norms. Attendance, punctuality and responsiveness are essential functions of this position.
Interpersonal Contacts
Contacts are normally made with others inside and outside of the Columbia organization. Internal contacts include other DCs, Traffic, Planning, and Customer Service. Outside contacts include the management and staff of the 3PL, transportation providers, and in some instances technical or scheduling support of customers. Information sometimes contains confidential/sensitive information. Incumbent is expected to initiate contact and determine most effective method with a variable mix of email, phone, radio and face-to-face.
Supervisory Responsibility
Incumbent has no immediate direct reports, but could have some supervisory responsibility in the future.
Specific Job Skills
Possess thorough knowledge of warehouse operations and computerized distribution systems.
Must have proven leadership skills. Demonstrate very effective and professional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write and speak English and compose general business letters, emails and memos to internal/external contacts and customers. Able to solve problems and make decisions independently and with discretion. Proficiency in common business software.
Ability to move freely around the Distribution Center, stoop, crouch, sit and stand for extended periods of time, and regularly lift/carry/push up to 40 pounds.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent specializing in Business Administration, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering. Other requirements include:
7 to 10 year experience in materials management apparel or other consumer products distribution services
A strong communicator, able to influence others indirectly
Apparel or other consumer products distribution services
3 or more years of supervisory experience preferred
Talent for analyzing and using data to improve planning, processes and decisions
Experience with logistics and transportation
Knowledge of retail business requirements
5 to 20% travel in domestic US
Job Conditions
Job may require hours that often exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week to complete priority projects. Evening meetings/weekend work may be required. Job pressure exists in the balancing of a wide variety of projects with conflicting deadlines, and managing personal time, and that of others, to ensure the timely completion of each project and studies. Exposure to Distribution Center machinery/equipment such as conveyor belts, fork lifts and loading docks is expected.
