The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving operational excellence in the YETI supply chain. This includes developing strategic initiatives, getting cross-functional buy-in, establishing project priority and informing cost roadmap initiatives at Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers. This role will work closely with key cross-functional business partners including Engineering, Procurement, Quality, etc. This position is a core member of the YETI Supply Chain Engineering team assisting with production while pushing the envelope of what is possible for the best manufacturing process, product cost, and product performance.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze and improve manufacturing efficiency and quality by making data-driven decisions and collaborating across departments
• Communicate technical requirements to suppliers while enforcing YETI confidentiality
• In coordination with Supply Chain Engineering and Procurement, inform a cost reduction roadmap based on the should-cost analysis and drive out waste to ensure cost targets are achieved
• Identify key cost-out opportunities by baselining cost, performing cycle time analysis, and throughput improvements
• Lead cost elimination efforts for YETI products by developing, implementing and driving closure of VA/VE initiatives
• Collaborate closely with YETI Engineering team and vendors to balance design intent with manufacturability and performance
• Lead initiatives to improve pass-through rates and drive continuous process improvement at supplier factories
Qualifications and Attributes:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field required
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Process Improvement, or related field. Consumer products industry a plus.
• Understanding of lean tools, principles, and methodology
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
• Team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at various organizational levels internally and externally
• Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats
• Ability to work within a highly dynamic organization
• Ability to influence without authority
• Willingness to travel 70% or more
