CamelBak, based in Petaluma, CA, is seeking a Sourcing Manager for it's Asia Hard Goods and Technology products.
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supplier management of new and existing products and components for CamelBak’s hard goods and technology products. The position will also involve the development of sources to meet requirements for CamelBak’s Hard Goods and Technology products and components. The person holding this position must have the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships both with suppliers and internally with other CamelBak departments. In addition, this individual must also be technically adept, experienced with all aspects of the supply chain, ranging from specific manufacturing technologies, quality management systems, lean manufacturing techniques, ERP systems (CamelBak’s and supplier’s), customs, logistics, warehousing/distribution, etc. CamelBak’s goal is to both maintain existing and establish new long term strategic partnerships with suppliers that are mutually beneficial and enable CamelBak to maintain its leadership position in the market. The primary focus will be on Asian based supply.
Position Responsibilities:
• Support CamelBak’s hard goods and technology product lines from supplier selection through sustainment.
• Ensure suppliers have the necessary capacity to support on time delivery to customers, while simultaneously helping to identify and set up systems and supply chain structures that keep inventory as low as possible.
• Help deploy procurement strategies that support CamelBak’s drive to continuously improve cost, quality, product availability and, whenever possible, carbon footprint.
• Manage key suppliers supporting CamelBak’s Asia hard goods product lines, which includes ensuring continuity of supply, on-time delivery, quality, pricing, payment terms, and supply contracts.
• This person in this role will become a member of a New Product Introduction (NPI) Core Team or an Extended Team Member, following the New Product Introduction Process (NPI), liaising with suppliers to ensure project deliverables are met for new product development/prototyping needs.
• This position is responsible for ongoing oversight of products throughout their life cycle at suppliers, from start-up, to steady state production, to ongoing product updates, and finally ends of life production transition.
• This role will perform ongoing assessments and drive standardizing regular reports on supplier performance, infrastructure, capacity, product quality and factory yields.
• Work in concert with Product Development & Quality Assurance to ensure customer requirements and usage conditions are anticipated, clearly defined and adequately simulated in lab based product qualification testing and on-going factory testing
• Collaborate, share and balance workloads with counterparts to ensure all of CamelBak’s product lines have full operational support
• Assist the Director, Hard Goods Sourcing with planning and developing of quarterly/annual budgets and strategy development and deployment.
• Conduct on-going supplier evaluation and score carding
Position Qualifications:
• Strong technical background, minimum bachelor’s degree in technical discipline with a wide range of hands on manufacturing and direct supplier management experience (experience with consumer or hi-tech manufacturing, plastic injection molding and material used in is a plus)
• 5-10 years of Experience with international sourcing/manufacturing, particularly Asia
• Substantial experience with ISO-9000 or other quality management systems
• Familiarity with international regulatory requirements (FDA, U/L, FCC and their international equivalents) that CamelBak’s new product lines must comply with.
• A high level understanding of international Custom’s requirements
• Extensive experience with industry leading new product introduction processes
• Manufacturing engineering/plant manufacturing experience is a plus
• Overseas contract management experience
• Experience with quality management system implementation
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
Skills:
• Ability to provide project leadership/ownership
• Strong business acumen with ability to make and successfully implement senior manager level decisions
• Strong interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to work with people internal and external to CamelBak from diverse cultures at all levels
• Good judgment with the ability to analyze a situation and make timely and sound decisions.
• Creative, flexible, and innovative team player

Working Environment:
The Asia Hard Goods and Technology Sourcing Manager primarily works in the office in a sitting or standing position. Work can include laboratory and production environments. Computer use will range from 6-8 hours per day. Lifting up to 25 lbs unassisted is a physical requirement. Domestic and international travel is expected at approximately 15-20% of job related activities. International trips may include weekends and could extend to 2-3 weeks at a time. This position may be located in Asia, location TBD.
