Film Tour Print Production Artist

May 2007

The company known for the largest action sports film on the planet is seeking a Print Production Artist (PPA) to support our 58th annual film tour. If you’ve never heard of Warren Miller films, please don’t waste your time by reading any further if you have heard of us and you consider your self worthy (and an occasional sucker for punishment), read on.

We’re looking for an energetic, self-motivated, patient, positive thinking, multi-tasking phenom of a PPA who has no qualms becoming a bit of a ghost to their friends for the next few months. We’re looking for someone who can accept their role as a PPA (with an emphasis on PRODUCTION) and is willing to put their creative aspirations on the shelf until called upon.

Have a tough time working very long hours, for less pay than your worth, under stressful situations? Stop here and let us know if you find that kind of posh gig (we’re still looking). Excel under pressure, have thick skin, carry no overwhelming baggage and have a knack for finding light at the end of a long, long, long, long tunnel? Then you just might be our type.

Still reading? Good. What else? We need someone who is proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat. Extensive experience is not necessary (we probably couldn’t afford you anyway) but if this would be your first job out of school, we’ll probably tell you to give us a call next year. We need someone who can tolerate an office full of dogs, flip-flops, cheap beer, loose morals and young, over-caffeinated, Ritalin deprived, sports junkies.

At this point if you’re still reading it means you’ve got the skills, mindset, enthusiasm and interest we’re looking for, but you’re wondering what you’ll actually be doing at Warren Miller. Right? This should help:

1. Designing the layout, placing pertinent information on and prepping to print market specific flyers, posters and postcards.

2. Designing and reformatting a ton of market specific magazine and newspaper ads. Each of these ads contain varying show dates and times, resort and retailer offers, ticketing information a bundle of logos and probably some other stuff too.

3. Designing and laying out our press and public relations materials.

4. Formatting large quantities of logos and photos for use all over.

5. Manipulating poster artwork for use on other various sized types of collateral (banners, VIP badges, stickers, etc.)

6. Creating sponsorship materials like car decals, booth graphics/signage and other items our wonderful sales staff is pitching without asking us if it’s even feasible.

7. Customizing and formatting email templates for market specific blasts.

8. In an ideal world you’ve got some web designing experience as well. Having someone put together some banner ads for us would be sweet, but this isn’t a deal breaker.

Oh and as you may know our national tour premiers in 80 different venues around the country, so you’ve got a boat load of different versions to do for each item listed above.

Couple remaining things –

Time frame: The job will run from early/mid June through Thanksgiving-ish.
Salary: Less than what you want. Seriously, it’ll be based on your experience, discussed later and you can also plan on being compensated with gear, etc. as well.

Want to apply? Sucker. Okay that was mostly a joke. Go ahead and send a cover letter, resume and some samples of your work to:

We look forward to hearing from you. No really, we do. We love this place. The job is a sweet gig and it’s a huge opportunity to break into the industry and make tons of connections. It’s also a great way to spend your day around people who work extremely hard but don’t take life (or themselves) too seriously, love what their doing and recognize how lucky they are to work in such a cool place. Cheers.
