Kuryakyn has an immediate opening for a Designer – Soft Goods. The person in this position will be designing and developing new products for the Motorcycle industry. This position requires a combination of Illustration, and design experience to create the most functional and appealing product. You must be able to bring a product from concept sketches, to production in a very short time while maintaining accurate documentation.
Essential Functions:
• Prepare sketches, and detailed drawing.
• Knowledge of Material, Stitches, Fabric, Thread, Zippers, Molding, Buckles, Snaps and Rivets.
• Confer with senior designer, engineering, marketing, or with customers, to establish and evaluate design for manufactured products.
• Create technical 2D and 3D drawings that show critical dimensions & surface finishes, material & finish call-outs and other critical information.
• Fabricate prototype samples
• Research production specifications, costs, production materials and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements.
• Modify and refine designs, to conform to customer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
• Evaluate feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
• Present designs for review, communicating design intent, and discuss need for modification.
• Participate in new product planning or market research, including studying the potential need for new products.
• Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products and design styles and motifs to obtain perspective and generate design concepts.
• Evaluate and test, first article samples.
