Eyeking, LLC is a fourth generation, award winning eyewear design firm that develops, markets and distributes globally, private label and licensed eyewear brands. Eyeking’s license partners include Under Armour Eyewear and Hobie Polarized. The role of the Product Line Manager is to drive the development of eyewear products for the Under Armour and Hobie Polarized businesses lines. We are seeking creative thinkers with a strong problem solving and product engineering skillset.
This primary focus of this role is product line management at a model and sku level for all new eyewear models for the Under Armour and Hobie Polarized brands. The role requires collaboration across Product Design, Development Engineering, and Marketing in this highly collaborative cultural environment. This new position will be located in Orange County, CA and report directly to the Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing.
The ideal candidate should be a creative thinker and skilled communicator with a true entrepreneurial mindset. This role should appeal most to candidates who thrive in a small shop environment working across a variety of creative disciplines. This role will be expected to lead and own product line management and articulate status of all open products/projects confidently in this highly collaborative environment.
Main Responsibilities:
• Work with product creation leadership team to develop product line plans that drive growth, profitability and meet brand goals/objectives.
• Collaborate in the development of product roadmaps, ensure technologies are deployed to spec, target costs are achieved, and market needs are met as intended to optimize the business.
• Manage overall new product introduction calendar, from concept to consumer, and accurately communicate status to internal stakeholders. This requires an understanding of and facility with the stage and phase gates of hardline product development.
• Data entry responsibilities for new product classification into PIM system.
• Partner with leadership to develop product and concept briefs inclusive of detailed requirements and feature definitions (technology, design, and aesthetic considerations) for presentation to Design, Engineering and Business Unit leadership in seasonal kick off meetings.
• Incorporate consumer insights and market analyses to help shape and improve portfolio and product development.
• Understand channel and regional consumer needs.
• Trend analysis: color/shape/textures/finishes - across industries.
• Competitive assessment and analysis of how it impacts seasonal assortments.
• Provide regular updates to global stakeholders on status of new product release details.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Clear communication of project status via regularly scheduled update meetings with department leadership across the organization.
• Provide product focused content to marketing for seasonal releases (catalogs, tech sheets, sell sheets, etc…)
• Facilitate delivery of samples and support tools to sales
• Manage product naming process with Legal department
• Participate in product testing and evaluation wherever appropriate.
• Review test results data to determine if engineering/design changes are required.
