It’s no secret that Sole Technology is a leader in our industry. So what makes us so great? Sure, without our customers (whom we love) we wouldn’t be able to pay the bills, but it’s our PEOPLE that give our company its heart and sole. (Pun intended.) We’re currently on the lookout for a Photography Manager to be a part of our Visual Communications Department. Under general supervision, he/she will provide all the photography needs of the Visual Communications Department. The Photography Manager will manage the multi-category photo department at Sole Technology, covering not only product & lifestyle photography, but skate, surf, BMX, MOTO-X, and snow photography as well. Responsibilities include overseeing the department’s organization of photo submissions. The Photography Manager, remaining within budget and production deadlines, will plan & coordinate photo shoots. In addition, the Photography Manager will negotiate photographer's contracts and compile and research source information. Responsibilities also include preparing invoices for accounting, following through with vendor payments for the photo department, and facilitating contracts and budgets to photographers prior to start of shoot. As Photography Manager you will be responsible but not limited to the following:
• Commission and research photography according to
assigned photography briefs.
• Manage team of staff photographers and freelance
product photographers
• Seek and assign photographers, stylists, prop
stylists, hair and makeup artists, models and
locations in order to successfully execute ideas and
concepts.
• Assisting with conceptualizing with the photography
to execute the art director’s vision in the creation
and identity of a brand campaign.
• Coordinating photo shoots by communicating and
scheduling all the talent involved.
• Maintain budget for shoots.
• Coordinate in-house photo studio schedule.
• Maintain and manage in-house photo studio and
equipment with Group Manger approval.
• Follow-up shoot responsibility includes: gathering
final images from photographers, supplying them to
designers and gathering for final archiving.
• Manage photo samples with R&D department to meet all
product photography needs.
• Research photography and contact team managers,
various magazines and independent photographers for
existing photography to meet all photography needs.
• Maintain photographers’ contracts.
• Negotiate image usage agreements with freelance
photographers.
• Assist on photo shoots.
• Shoot product, rainbow line and any other immediate
image requests in-house when needed.
• Shoot life style imagery when needed.
• Retouch images when needed.
• Assist with shooting catalogs when needed.
• Maintain the electronic photo archives, which
include product, lifestyle, and action photography.
• Manage photo department interns.


These are the qualifications you’ll need:
• Prior photo management experience is required.
• Minimum 4-5 years experience in photography related
field preferred.
• Requires knowledge of how an art department or ad
agency works.
• How a photo studio functions and how to work with
multiple departments.
• Must possess strong organization skills with the
ability to multi-task and handle several projects at
once.
• Must have knowledge in photography copyrights &
laws.
• Must be proficient in Adobe Suite and Microsoft
Office.
• Must have strong communication skills, verbal and
written.
• Skills required include use of knowledge of
photography equipment, computers and fluent in
Photoshop.
• Ability to take initiative and work under constant
and competing deadlines.
• Physical Demands and Work Environment: This is a
sedentary office classification and at times may
require work outside of the office. The majority of
the time, employees work in an office environment
with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature
conditions and no direct exposure to hazardous
physical substances. Employees have occasional
exposure to irate customers, staff and public and
private representatives in interpreting and
enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
While performing the duties of this job outside of
the office, the employee may be exposed to weather
conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in
the work environment is usually minimal. This
position may be taking photos outside, may need to
travel to photo-shoots and may need to carry
equipment to said photo-shoots.
• Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and
retrieve data using a computer keyboard or
calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
The position occasionally bends, stoops, reaches,
pushes and pulls drawers to retrieve and file
information and lifts and carries reports and
records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is occasionally required to stand, walk,
sit, use hands, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel,
talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by
the job include close vision, distance vision, color
vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the
ability to adjust focus.
