Role: Senior Developer Material Operations

Fabrics, trims, and other raw materials are the foundation of Patagonia products and central to the Company’s mission statement “We are in business to save our home planet”. The Material Operations Developer holds an important strategic role utilizing deep supply chain knowledge to drive, and consolidate, counter source or updating to preferred materials of existing materials. This role also supports overall supply chain strategy, creation and maintenance of material development SOPs, and supporting critical reporting needs.
What You’ll Do:
Material Development & Commercialization:
Develop materials for strategic counter-sourcing, consolidation or converting to preferred materials in supporting material sourcing strategy.
Partner with Material Suppliers and Supplier Quality Management team to ensure Material Performance & Quality requirements are met.
Approve materials that are fully commercialized and ready for manufacturing, which adhere to the Company’s requirements for quality, cost, traceability, environmental and social responsibility.
Material records created with complete and accurate data in PLM on time.
Supply Chain:
Develop and maintain long-term supplier relationships built on trust and integrity.
Partner with Production Team to align with garment supply chain strategies.
Collaborate with Material Supplier Quality Management and Material Developers to set up supplier scorecards. Evaluate supplier’s capabilities, capacities, and their ability to develop and deliver fabric which adheres to the Patagonia’s Core Values & Requirements.
Support creation and maintenance of updating material sourcing strategy for risk mitigation.
Process:
Create and Maintain MD SOPs on RM creation, material definition, supply chain exit strategy.
Facilitates Running Change Process and trainings.
Support 3D transformation project, and systems’ upgrades.
Partner with Supply Chain Management Team on CR360 system data collection.
Seasonal Reporting to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Develop and maintain core palette.
Support training in material development calendar and PLM material SOPs.
Hand Off:
Prepare and present approvable trials to key stakeholders.
Communicate technical information to Line Management and Product Marketing Teams.
Communicate material strategies and information relevant to material cost, capacity, lead time, and minimum order quantities to Material Planning at the seasonal hand off meeting.
Provide fabric samples and information on new materials which can be added to the Company’s Material Library.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree, prefer but not limited, in Textile, Material Engineering, Materials Science, or Sustainability.
10+ years of material development experience in Apparel and Textile Industry, that demonstrated abilities to manage complicated projects.
Strong Knowledge in Apparel Material Development, Fabric and/or Trim Testing Requirements, and Textile Supply Chain
Ability to support massive data extraction, running analysis, and convert complex data to digestible reports.
Good Computer skills in Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Powerpoint. Any experience as a super user of PLM software system is a plus
Pay range: $90,000-$135,000 USD Annual
Hiring range: $110,000-$120,000 USD Annual
Level: P4
