The Senior Sales Specialist contributes to REI’s success by using expertise, advanced selling skills, and consistently promoting REI’s priorities to deliver outstanding customer engagement and experience. Senior Sales Specialists train and act as a role model in the knowledge, skills, and tasks that deliver exceptional customer service. In addition, the Senior Sales Specialist accomplishes planning and execution of events as well as operational and administrative tasks that support daily department function per the direction of the Department Manager. This role models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
! Plan and deliver training to store employees as instructed by Department Manager. Training ensures delivery of all department and store functions, including additional training initiatives from management.
! Model desired department and store behaviors as defined by the Management Team. Demonstrate initiative and productivity and serve as a role model for store employees.
! Coordinate execution of daily tasks and priorities from Management Team. Ask department and store employees for help executing daily tasks as needed.
! Plan sale setup, floorset execution, and all additional administrative and operational department tasks as assigned by Department Manager.?
! Communicate priorities and tasks, promotional events, and important news to department and store employees utilizing communication methods identified by Management Team and REI.
! Identify opportunities for additional staff training, notify Department Manager, and plan and deliver as assigned.
! Share feedback with Department Managers regarding staffing and scheduling needs.
! Identify areas of opportunity and act on them as it relates to inventory accuracy, price accuracy, and product stock levels. Elevate concerns or ideas to Department Manager.
! Effectively prepare the store for customers: efficiently stock and coordinate daily stocking process, execute visual directions, and ensure a compelling presentation. Partner with Department Manager of Visual Merchandising to ensure visual excellence.
! Sign out department keys and mobile devices to employees.
! Assist Point of Sale through ringing transactions, answering questions, and overriding the register as needed.
! Embrace change and support all management change initiatives.
! Implement and promote adoption of REI’s Standard Operating Procedures.
! Consistent, sincere effort to invite and welcome new members to REI Co-op, and promote Co-brand credit card and Cooperative Action Fund.
! Support inclusive and welcoming store and department for employees and customers.
! Participate and engage in small group discussions.
! Perform all other duties and tasks assigned.

! Previous retail experience.
! Meet availability requirements including nights and weekends.
! Complete Co-op Customer Experience and Membership Training prior to working on the sales floor.
! Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of organizational goals.
! Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to support the direction taken by others at REI.
! Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.
! Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound decisions.
! Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on co-workers and customers.
! Effective written and verbal communications skills in primary language of business
! Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work.
! Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.
! Clearly conveys and accurately receives information by a variety of methods and in various situations.
! Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization.
! Acts upon opportunities and involves and influences others in the accomplishment of organizational goals.
! Challenges the status quo, champions change and influences others to change.

The pay for this role is: $19.90 - $23.40 per hour.
