Location: Taipei City, Taiwan RegionColumbia Sportswear Company’s diverse global materials team encompasses individuals across several countries working together on the innovation, costing, development, production and quality of materials that go into producing CSC’s finished products. We rely on a team of motivated individuals who partner with each other and stakeholders throughout the business to get the job done across each and every season.   Manage the North Asia Material HUB team that is responsible for the commercialization of material fabric & trims development, and the implementation of the materials sourcing strategy through cross-functional engagement across the Asia liaison office network, home office, brands and supplier base.Lead the facilitation and monitoring of fabric and trim developments through commercialization, in timely accordance with the seasonal calendar. This position requires a global and enterprise-wide mindset to ensure Columbia Sportswear’s material developments deliver outstanding quality to meet our customers’ needs and expectations.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Material Development and Innovation: Maximize the strength of Columbia Sportswear’s material vendor supply base and resources.  Influence best in class vendor performance, evaluate and share comments with the home office and cross functional teams such as Innovation, Material Sourcing & Costing, Planning, Quality and Merchandising.
 

Material Capacity Planning: Ensure seasonal materials are commercialized to meet buy ready timelines and development calendar alignment with cross functional teams as it relates to FG development, buy dates, and raw material readiness for salesman sample fabric.  Monitor and stay informed on seasonal forecasts to ensure that vendor partners are set up to meet expected delivery and buy requirements.  Partner with the Material Sourcing Manager to stay informed on material capacity planning and the vendors overall performance and improvement areas for future development and partnership building.
 

Material Sourcing: Ensure material development timelines align with the sourcing strategy and/or resourcing plan.  Evaluate vendor performance, including development capability, quality, price, communications, flexibility of capacity management, on-time-performance. Share and review comments with the home office related to what is the best fabric item allocation to vendors that aligns with the company business strategy.
 

Material Quality:  Stay informed on material quality issues and resolution.  Partner closely with the Material Quality Manager to ensure corrective action plans are effective and mitigate issues that may impact future development.
 

Team Management & Development: Manage the team budget through accurate forecast planning, in partnership with manager and finance partners.  Provide clear development direction and drive strong communication among the team, and with cross-functional partners.  Coach employees on performance and growth opportunities, create learning and development opportunities that drive textile knowledge expertise and enhance soft skills, ensure internal and external partnerships and communication set the team up to be successful, implement working processes that enable empowerment ownership to employees and vendors, support problem solving, drive a global, enterprise-wide and end-to-end mindset. Create an environment where employees feel safe bringing new ideas and solutions to the table. Lead change and be a reliable and strong guide for the team.   
 

Problem-Solving: Support and manage problem solving together with cross function partners.  Be adept in anticipating problems and proactively take steps to define contingency plans and mitigate issues. Use learnings to build preventative measures and the teams’ knowledge.
 

Download ownership:   Identify and implement opportunities to streamline processes, leveraging raw material vendors capabilities to take on some working processes that enable development cycle time improvements and remove duplication of work.



YOU ARE
Full visibility and end-to-end process engagement from development through commercialization, bulk production execution, delivery on time to Finished Goods Vendors, and eventually meet the end customers' delivery and quality expectations.

Manage brand and/or category performance metrics and KPI’s based on salesman samples and bulk on-time-performance, development turn times, and buy-ready.

Enhance the efficiency of calendar & planning management by category, brands/or region.

Close connectivity with the team to stay alert and mitigate issues quickly.

Key contact role with cross-functional teams across production and sourcing LO’s, home office, vendors.

Stay on top of industry changes, trends, and market intelligence. Share out this information to team members and stakeholder partners to be well informed and influence strategy, direction and decision making.

Streamline communication channels through clear and effective engagement with the home office and cross-functional liaison office teams.  

Maintain full visibility the purpose and product end use and performances expectations.


HAVE?
A Bachelor’s degree in textile or other manufacturing-related fields with at least 8 years of experience in a leadership role or 3 additional years’ experience may be substituted instead of a degree.

Understanding of the SCS and international business.

Understanding of manufacturing processes including sourcing, development, production, and quality control. 

Ability to communicate clearly to work with stakeholders of all levels.

Ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks to achieve maximum productivity.

High Proficiency in Both English and Mandarin.
