General Position Summary:
Work closely with Creative & Design Directors, Product Line Managers, and other designers to develop on-product artwork. Present design concepts in design reviews. Evolve the look, feel, and identity of on-product artwork with an informed point-of-view.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Work closely with Creative Design Director, Lead Designer, Graphic Designers, Product Designers, and Product Line Managers for assigned projects on a seasonal basis.
Create artwork for product related graphics focusing primarily on Men’s T-shirts with some involvement in textile prints (fabric prints), logo applications, embroideries, woven labels, heat transfers, molded parts, and similar graphic applications.
Present designs and concepts in team meetings and design reviews.
Research graphic and apparel trends through on-line research, with occasional travel varying from local to international.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, related field OR experience equivalent to a degree
Five to seven years experience as a Graphics Designer working with Macintosh based graphic art programs in progressively responsible roles.
Previous experience with printing and production processes is desirable.
Exposure to the outdoor industry or related work preferred.
Possess thorough knowledge of the Product Graphic
Design process and the procedures associated with completing the process. This includes knowledge of design, and production requirements, as it relates to textile printing, screen-printing, heat transfer applications, embroideries, molded parts and similar applications. Demonstrate a solid understanding of industry and market requirements design appropriate graphics for target consumers and retailers that result in sales growth for the company. Knowledge of the outdoor industry preferred.
Must have excellent Macintosh computer skills.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Solid understanding with web applications and Microsoft Office applications preferred.
Must have excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize projects, and superior attention to detail. Possess hands-on graphic skills such as drawing, painting, cutting, measuring, along with excellent page layout and typography skills and ability to demonstrate skill in drawing and illustrating concepts. Must have excellent eyesight free from any color impairment.
Demonstrate high levels of creativity, problem solving, job knowledge, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with the ability to lead by example and inspire team members. Interact with co-workers in a professional manner that supports the department and promotes a positive work environment. Communicate clearly with staff, management, vendors, customer, and clients this includes adapting to be effective with a multitude of personalities and circumstances. Act as a resource for established procedures and take a proactive approach in meeting deadlines and in understanding job requirements.
