Position Overview: The Director of Supply Chain Management will be responsible for end-to-end supply chain operations, including supply planning, manufacturing operations (production/quality) management and regional logistics. The role will play a critical part in ensuring seamless coordination between global manufacturing, supply planning and logistics teams, while optimizing the data integrity and processes essential for accurate and efficient supply chain operations.
The Director will collaborate closely with senior leadership to support strategic initiatives, improve supply chain performance, and drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Planning Operations - This role will oversee the development of global supply plans and buying strategies to optimize on time performance, inventory optimization, and factory capacity utilization. They will lead a team of managers and associates that will execute these strategies and adjust to changing market conditions. In supporting Columbia, Mountain Hardwear, prAna and Sorel, they will incorporate brand and region priorities and goals into their approach and balance these goals with manufacturing capabilities and requirements.
Leverage data analytics to provide actionable insights for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and supply chain risk mitigation. - Ensure system integration between manufacturing, logistics, and ERP systems, enabling data accuracy and real-time decision-making.
Productivity - Collaborate with the global sourcing and manufacturing teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving coverage, reducing lead times, optimizing production capacity, and improving customer/consumer satisfaction on product quality reliability. - Ensure proper integration between supply chain, manufacturing schedules, and inventory management to meet customer demands and minimize operational disruptions.
Manufacturing Operations Management - Lead and oversee Apparel manufacturing operations for the Southeast Asia region to ensure all production deliverables and quality expectations of the organization are met. This includes all CSC brands and regions. Ensure vendor compliance to corporate policies and initiatives related to supply chain outcomes. alignment with production plans, quality standards, and cost efficiency. Work with global manufacturing, planning and regional leadership teams to identify and develop vendor capacities and capabilities in the region to meet evolving needs of the organization. –
o Production Management – Support capacity conversations and validation. Resolve production issues across raw materials and finished goods including: Minimums and surcharges, WIP updates, reprioritizations, delays, payment, documentation and shipping issues. Measure, analyze and drive continuous improvement in delivery execution.
o Provide leadership and strategic direction to the CSC Quality Assurance teams. Position is responsible for managing all aspects of Quality Assurance for global corporate apparel, equipment and accessory product lines. Create a culture of quality and supplier empowerment. Develop and coach the factory quality system assessment programs. Generate appraisal metrics for the factory source base to practice. Direct the distribution of factory quality performance statistics to internal systems and stakeholders. Promote and Pursue Continuous Improvement Model, encompassing Quality Management process to assure Product Reliability in manufacturing across the Organization and Business partners.
Logistics and Distribution Oversight - Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize transportation, warehousing, and distribution networks across the region. - Ensure the timely, cost-effective delivery of products to customers and distribution centers, while maintaining high service levels. (Origin management, Containers, CFS, Vessel) - Identify opportunities to enhance logistics processes through automation, technology, and vendor partnerships to improve efficiency and reduce transportation costs. - Collaborate with the Global VP of Logistics to manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), freight carriers, and distribution partners.
Cross-functional Leadership - Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, logistics partners, and other departments such as finance, procurement, and IT. - Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across manufacturing, logistics, and master data functions, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. - Serve as a key liaison between the global manufacturing and logistics teams to align objectives and drive synergy across regions. - Create an environment of trust and reliability. Build Columbia mindset of inclusiveness and set high standard for code of conduct with vendors and CSC staff. Constantly strive for developing thought leadership at all levels and build synergies within all offices of LO network. Optimize team effectiveness, support skill development and balance workload and projects.
Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement - Participate in the development and execution of the global supply chain strategy in partnership with senior leadership. - Lead initiatives aimed at optimizing inventory management, reducing supply chain costs, and improving overall supply chain resilience.
o Monitor key supply chain performance metrics (KPIs) and provide regular reports and recommendations to the Global VPs and senior leadership teams. - Champion the adoption of new technologies and digital tools that enhance supply chain visibility, agility, and responsiveness.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, manufacturing, or a related field (MBA preferred). - 10+ (15+) years of experience in supply chain management, including leadership roles overseeing manufacturing, logistics, and/or master data functions. - Proven track record of leading and optimizing supply chain operations in a global or multinational environment. - Strong understanding of ERP systems, supply chain planning tools, and data analytics platforms (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving large-scale process improvements. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills. - Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational efficiency, cost control, and innovation.
