Job Description:
The position is responsible for executing the technical design process from development to final fit. This position in collaboration with the design and development team, in partnership with factories to communicate the Designer’s vision through patterns, samples and garment specifications. The role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the brand while ensuring that products are developed in a manner consistent with established fits, quality standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specification for Young Men’s apparel.
Key Responsibilities:
• Experience in Men’s Sport Skate Apparel, must be a self –starter as well as organized and detail oriented. Develop garment technical specifications using WebPDM for assigned product categories to complete Design Tech Packs using block patterns and Market Samples.
• Review proto samples and patterns, revise to correct & fit as styling requires. Suggest corrections as needed.
• Communicate with Development and Production Departments regarding issues as they relate to garment specification, fit, construction or fabrication.
• Lead fitting and manage execution of fit process with Design, Development & Production.
• Apply the appropriate process and specifications with Design, Development & Production/factories regarding fit, spec, pattern and construction methods & techniques to improve fit, quality and cost.
• Review, approve and issue Final Graded Specification and Manufacturing tolerances to assure quality of garments.
• Organize, track and process Fit Comments from 1st Proto Sample through Bulk Production. Maintain seasonal specification book for
• All approvals by delivery.
• Adherence to Product Development Calendars, ensuring timely completion of Fit Comments to factories.
• Develop and manage Block Patterns Libraries. Assess seasonal needs for Block Pattern refinement.
• Scheduling of Fit Models. Coordinate and track fit schedules with Design, Development and Production Teams.
Skills:
• Strong working knowledge of apparel manufacturing, (Men’s Industry Standards) design, product development and merchandising processes from the inception of design through production.
• Excellent patternmaking skills (including hands-on experience in flat pattern & draping), garment sizing and pattern grading.
• A trained eye of good fitting garments and thorough understanding of garment proportion and functionalities.
• Knowledge of garment construction standards and engineering, textiles/fabric, trims, finishing (wet & dry), and manufacturing methods.
• Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions as needed.
• Attention to detail, accurate and articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills working in a diverse and multicultural environment.
• Proactive, self-motivated, problem solving and results oriented with a strong sense of urgency and the ability to adhere to Product Development Calendar.
• Working knowledge of apparel specification computer systems such as Gerber, WebPDM, Lectra.
• Ability to process Hard Paper Patterns.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, able to operate Digital Camera.

• Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.
