Billabong is currently searching for a talented and motivated Swim Designer to join our Women’s M&D art department at headquarters in Irvine, CA.
Job Description:
This position requires a creative individual with a strong background in and knowledge of the swim category. Candidates must have a strong eye for print and color direction and be able to initiate concepts through the entire design process.
Responsibilities:
• Responsibilities will include conepting initial mood, print and color direction for each season.
• Must be able to thoroughly understand the needs of sales, pricing, etc and calendar.
• Work hand and hand with textile designers to achieve best possible assortment for each season’s collection.
• Responsible for designing the entire swim / submersible range for both Women’s and little girls.
• Responsible for fitting all swimwear styles along with in-house patternmaker.
• Works hand and hand with Product Developer in all initial concepting, sourcing, through development to achieve the best possible line three seasons a year.
• This position plays an integral role in the Design For Humanity Runway show (that occurs once a year) in creating one-off runway swim and garment pieces.
• Must be able to consistently produce concepts and artwork to satisfy design objectives and effectively manage multiple projects.
• This position is part of the existing Women’s department, teamwork, collaboration and feedback with all team members is expected.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum 4 years experience.
• Knowledge of swim fits, fabrications, trims, construction and print creation & techniques.
• Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop in a Macintosh environment.
• Needs to work well both independently and collaboratively, have excellent follow through skills and self-initiative.
• Must be ready and willing to take on any number of small projects as need arises.
• Previous design experience in the Action Sports industry a plus.
