Giant Bicycles, in Newbury Park, Calif., is in need of a Global Category Manager to manage the development of GIANT component products as directed by the Global Category Manager (Lead) in order to fulfill company goals and expectations for the program. The primary responsibility of the Category Manager is the management of products throughout their lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities:
• Identify new product opportunities, and present them utilizing Giant’s product development system.
• Develop yearly product line and follow mandated timelines and processes for the development and/or roll out of new products.
• Develop market analysis with regard to pricing, features, and selection.
• Communicate daily with our Giant global design and development teams throughout entire product cycle.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships in order to meet product roll out timelines and to develop a more competitive supply chain.
• Work with global team to develop global product forecasts and pricing.
• Assist Global Category Manager (Lead) in ensuring that the goals of the segment and the department are met in a timely fashion.
• Responsible for coordinating the product launch with Global Marketing Department.
Job Qualifications:
• Previous product management/development experience of 3+ years particularly in working with Asian suppliers.
• Comprehensive industry and retail knowledge of bicycles and gear.
• Fundamental understanding of product design and manufacturing.
• Highly motivated, self-starter. Thrives in a fast-paced work environment.
• An understanding and successful experiences of timeline development and management. Microsoft Project experience is a plus.
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills.
• Flexibility to work in a diverse work environment and embrace global cultures.
• College degree necessary.
Minimum Travel Requirements:
The Category Manager position requires a minimum of five months of international travel (80% Asia, 20% Europe) and one month of US domestic travel each year. Candidates must be flexible and willing to travel at a moment’s notice.
