TAX ACCOUNTANTÂ
**this position is on-site at our Park City corporate office.  As a Tax Accountant, you will oversee the Company’s sales and use tax compliance, assist the accounting team with month-end close and work on other tax and accounting related projects including federal and state income tax compliance. This role is responsible for performing assigned tax and accounting functions for all of Backcountry’s brands. This role will report to the Senior Director of Tax within the finance and accounting organization.Â

ABOUT THE JOB:

• Prepare month end tax-related journal entries and reconciliations (sales tax payable, tax related accruals, etc.)

• Manage and prepare sales tax license renewals

• Manage exemption certificates and research one-off exemption requests

• Manage business license renewals and applications for new retail locations

• Respond to various tax notices (sales and use, property, licensing, etc)

• Manage and resolve sales tax audits as they arise

• Manage relationship with and respond to requests from 3rd party providers (Avalara, CCH)

• Maintain tax compliance calendar

• Assist with new product profile creation to ensure proper tax classification

• Prepare property tax accruals and annual returns

• Oversee census & retail trade survey reporting

• Develop internal controls related to areas of responsibility

• Spearhead or assist in other projects as necessary

• Improve or automate processes where possible

ABOUT YOU:
Â

Four-year college degree or equivalent experience is required

Master’s degree or CPA preferred

2 to 4 years of Tax or Accounting experience

Understanding of Sales and Use Tax, Income Tax and US GAAP principles – pass-through tax experience a plus

Excellent written (English), verbal (English) and analytical skills; ability to multitask and balance priorities

Ability to meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy of information and attention to detail

Microsoft Excel skills required, experience with SQL and automation of processes a plus

The ability to understand and read financial reports, models, and data is required

Knowledge of and familiarity with NetSuite a plus
