Next Level Apparel is a leader in the market of fashion blank t-shirts. We are looking for an experienced Technical Designer to join our team.
Job Summary
Technically develops and establishes standards on assigned category garment construction, quality, fit, measuring and grading. This position also provides technical support as it relates to quality control standards and specifications in pre-production. This includes development management from prototype through production of garments.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Evaluation of samples (fit and pre-production)
- Review samples for spec measurements and construction
- Evaluate fit of garment on a live model
- Conduct fit sessions with Product Development team
- Communicate fit comments with pattern maker
- Establish and maintain library of patterns and specification sheets
- Establish and maintain brand fit consistency
- Development of specification standards
- Building and organization on all files maintaining garment construction templates, points of measure sketches, grade rules, basic spec blocks, all technical trim information
- Work with Design in initial stages of tech pack spec development, review tech packs prior to turn over
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Good understanding of designing cost effective garments
- Technical knowledge of garment construction
- Technical knowledge of patterns (with an understanding in grading and measuring)
- Strong computer skills (Tuka Tech is a plus)
- Knowledge of sewing equipment and usage
- Fabric knowledge
- Sense of color
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Technical Designer
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe, Excel and Tuka Tech a plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a team member
- Technical fabric knowledge
- Working knowledge of pattern making and grading
