Add Black is looking for a Textile Artist to join the Women’s Swim Design team.
Position Summary //
We are currently in search of a creative and fashion focused Textile Artist that will be responsible for helping with the design development of print & artwork files for a variety of private label swimwear brands. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience as a textile artist and work well in a team environment.
Responsibilities & Duties //
· Research/Shop Trends for the seasons for color, print and pattern
· Design in Illustrator/Photoshop all prints, fabric patterns, placement prints
· Good understanding of print application and execution
· Understand Print and Color direction as it applies to swimwear
· Help manage the development of print & artwork files, which includes color separation, repeat layout and sizing, cleaning files, color callouts, and printing technique call outs.
· Apply technical skills as needed relative to scaling, graphic and print file color separation, repeating artwork, and cleaning artwork files in the Indexed file format to prepare to be sent out to the appropriate mills.
· Develop original artwork for prints and build into repeat
· Create repeats from purchased artwork and vintage garments to create original designs.
· Review Strike offs and work with Designers/ Merchants for approval
· Contribute to the organization end efficiency of design team
· Meet design deadlines, as required
· Own the colorways and pattern from conception to completion working with Design Director
Qualifications //
· Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 proficiency is a must
· Must work well in team environment
· 3+ years of previous experience
· Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or textile design a plus
· Strong knowledge of materials and production techniques in relation to swimwear
· A strong eye for color and design
· Ability to work well under tight design deadlines
