POSITION: PRODUCT DEVELOPER-APPAREL & SOFTGOODS
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF APPAREL
SUMMARY:Responsible for developing cycling apparel and SoftGoods from design phase through production.

The Product Developer works directly with the product manager to take projects from the design phase to being production ready with complete technical packages created within projects timelines. This role will oversee all aspects of the product development with the guidance of the product manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Responsible of commercialization of selected Apparel and other SoftGoods styles from initial creation of the specification to final production.

2. Develop commercially viable product in partnership with design and Asian development/manufacturing while adhering to quality, product margin and calendar requirements.

3. Create and maintain accurate and detailed spec. and technical packages that assure accurate development, production, and costing.

4. Manage daily actions for various product development projects and information maintenance with the ability to report on progress in weekly reviews.

5. Travel for on site development and QC assurance to Asian suppliers (3-5 trips per year).

6. Travel to tradeshows, material shows, and partner with vendors to track market trends and innovative materials and constructions.

7. Other duties as assigned by the manager including preliminary costing, etc.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Ideal candidate has bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years and working knowledge of the apparel development process.

2. Preferred candidate had experience developing technical cycling products.

3. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of organization and internationally with vendors.

4. Experience in Asian development and production is preferred.

5. Able to develop detailed specification and prepare technical packages.

6. Must have a working knowledge of development process including timelines, pricing & delivery.

7. An ideal candidate will have an understanding of pattern making, textiles, construction techniques and other elements that comprise apparel and glove construction.

8. A team player with strong organizational skills, and able to handle multiple tasks and manager priorities in a focused but flexible manner.

9. Knowledge of Illustrator, Excel, Word

10. Familiar with cycling, with a competent understanding of the unique ergonomic elements that these products must address.
