The Fun Day Surf Wholesale Sales Manager is responsible for all U.S. wholesale sales, overseeing distribution of premium surf apparel and softboards nationwide. This role owns wholesale revenue, key accounts, and the development and management of a national independent sales rep network, with a core focus on specialty surf shops and selective exposure to teen chains and department stores.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who understands both apparel and softboard sales and knows how to scale wholesale through strong rep relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Wholesale Sales Leadership
- Own all U.S. wholesale sales for Fun Day Surf apparel and soft surfboards
- Set wholesale sales strategy, targets, and seasonal priorities
- Manage key house accounts directly while overseeing rep-managed regions
Sales Rep Network Management
- Build, onboard, and manage a national network of independent sales reps
- Set expectations, territories, and performance goals for reps
- Support reps with line sheets, samples, pricing, and sales tools
- Review rep performance and optimize territories as needed
Apparel & Softboard Sales Execution
- Drive seasonal apparel sell-ins and in-season reorders
- Lead softboard programs including sell-in, replenishment, and retail education
- Ensure reps understand board logistics, freight, margins, and floor requirements
- Develop bundled apparel + board programs to increase account value
Account Management & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with specialty surf shops nationwide
- Open new wholesale accounts aligned with brand strategy
- Manage select teen chain and department store relationships
- Protect brand positioning while expanding distribution
Forecasting & Planning
- Build and manage sales forecasts across apparel and boards
- Track performance vs. targets at the rep and account level
- Partner with operations to align inventory, delivery timing, and sell-through
Market & Brand Representation
- Represent Fun Day Surf at trade shows, sales meetings, and key retail accounts
- Act as a brand ambassador within the surf community
- Provide market feedback on trends, pricing, and product performance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with product, design, marketing, and operations teams
- Provide rep and customer insight into product development and launches
- Support go-to-market planning for new collections and board programs
Required Experience & Background
- 10+ years of wholesale sales experience in surf, action sports, or lifestyle brands
- Proven experience building and managing independent sales rep networks
- Strong existing relationships with specialty surf shops (required)
- Experience selling soft surfboards strongly preferred
- Proven success selling apparel into specialty retail
- Experience with teen chains and/or department stores a plus
- Deep understanding of surf culture and wholesale buying cycles
